Hi Everyone,

I was wondering If someone can tell me based on experience, what is the meaning of this online status and what will happen next?

1)We received your application for permanent residence on April 28, 2013

2)We started processing your application on January 20, 2015.

3)Medical results have been received.

A bit of background about my application. I am a USA Citizen, and I applied Outland (but I am living here in Canada).

Thank you for any assistance you guys can provide.

WOW! That's a very long time, considering most Americans are [now] completing the entire process in ~ 6 months.

You might want to order your GCMS notes from CIC to see why your first stage (Sponsor Approval) took ~ 21 months, as opposed to the `normal' couple of months.

for Ottawa, when your status changes to "in process" that generally means the file is close to finishing. it is common to see this after passport and/or rprf request. for the most part, US citizens have seen "decision made" 2-4 weks after the status changes to in process. right now, ottawa has slowed down a bit, so it is unknown if that "trend" will hold true. the ottawa spreadsheet is the blue link in my signature below. you will be able to see what applicants have experienced.

it is odd that a us application from 2013 is still not finalized. were there requests from cic along the way or an interview?

Hi.. Thank so much for sharing your experience about this.

I am feeling terrible, perhaps we should have been more proactive in trying to find out what was going on our application.

We figured that it was taking longer because in two occasions CIC requested documentation about my husband`s residency (for some reason they thought he resided outside of Canada), so we submitted all the necessary proof to show that he is a Canadian Citizen residing in Canada.

The other hurdle, had to do with my daughter`s legal custody (her father resides in USA), so we have to provide additional documentation to show that he gave permission for her to be in Canada.

There has been no request for an interview, and all the medicals were done when we submitted the application along with the FBI background information.

I will go ahead and request the file`s notes, and see what I can find out.

Once again, I appreciate your replies.
