Hi everyone:

Here's my situation, I'm out of work since June 2012 and I wanted to sponsor my husband here in Canada. He lives in China right now, I hear so many different opinion from different immigration lawyer it drives me nuts and almost crazy. I'm very afraid I get rejected because I'm not working right now, I haven't send any application to the CIC. Some lawyer said I need to work in order to sponsor my husband otherwise I will get rejected, some lawyer said I still can sponsor my husband even if I don't work at the moment.

Here's my questions
1. Is working and be able to have financial stability very important and key to sponsor my spouse?
2. Do CIC check Credit history?
3. How do I fill out Imm 1283?
Thank you.

You don't need to have a job, but you need to satisfy CIC that you will not be on welfare when your husband arrives in Canada. You can include letters from family members willing to help you out, proof of job searches, your education level, your husband's education, the kind of job he hopes to get once in Canada, that sort of thing.

I don't believe CIC check your credit history, no.

1)Just prove you won't be going on welfare and taking your wife with you.
2)CIC does not check credit history.
3)Luckly, Im from Quebec I don't need to fill that out.

My wife sponsored me. She did not had a job.

We gave them proof that we will not use the welfare from the Government, a letter from her parents stating that they would support for food accommodation and shelter. The immigration form 1283 not required to fill for sponsoring. Check this link below. That form is for, if you sponsoring an adopted child. We did not fill this form.

CIC have accepted it. I have landed Toronto, Canada on 8th Dec.
