Dear Sir
I am working in Canada and have a PR with me. I am getting married in April and my spouse who is an Indian resident would like to come to Canada immediately after marriage. I have the below questions

1. Should I file for visitor visa for my spouse before our marriage ? I wish to apply for her PR after marriage but that process would take up to 17 months to get the PR hence plan is to keep her on visitor visa until the PR is processed?
2. How long she can stay on visitor visa until the PR application is in progress ?
3. My spouse is currently working in India and is looking to leave her current job - How important is to hold a job in India while the visitor visa application is in progress or initiate the visitor visa application ?

Please guide us

Regards

1. Yes - you can apply now.
2. How long she is allowed into Canada is up to the immigration officer she encounters when she enters the country. Visitors are often given six months - although it's possible she may be given less. She can apply to extend her visit while in Canada.
3. It's very important to have a job. To be approved for a visitor visa, you must prove you have strong ties to your home country and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

I am also in similar situation. So, If she apply before marriage.. My name should not come in her visitor application? Also.. can she travel just after marriage or we have to wait till we got our file number for sponsorship.
