Spouse sponsorship: country specific questions regarding Russia

Hello everyone!

I have been reading the posts on this forum and I am very impressed by the knowledge of some of you guys. I need your advices as I feel that if I call CIC Call Centre again for questions and answers, which I do religiously everyday since two weeks, they will tell me to stop calling them.

Ok on a more serious note. I am presently in the process of filling up the application for my spouse. I am a naturalized canadian citizen living in Quebec and she is Russian. We have met on vacations one year and half ago and stayed together ever since. We married not long ago.

I noticed that on her country specific requirements, they ask for her "labour record". However, she doesn't have one since she didn't start working in her country. Will it delay our process?

I am also a little bit confused about everything that has to be notarized or certified. In the instructions, it is written "notarized photocopies of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise". It is very *censored word*ing confusing, and for nothing. Sometimes it says notarized photocopies are not necessary, for example for the passports. For the police clearances I know that they must be notarized photocopies. What about the rest? Not a word about them on the checklist. For example for the proofs of relationship, should I send original pictures or I can print them for organizational purposes?

I have heard that it is faster to process if we file the whole application in French. Is it true?

Is it important to "Validate" the forms for the barcodes when we fill them? For IMM008 they ask for the time when we applied for CSQ. Since we never applied for CSQ, we cannot put anything and must put N/A. However, we can't validate the form.

Finally, how can I modify my forum account settings to put my country flag (Quebec) and to put the timeline of our process?

Hum indeed maybe it is not, but I have seen people with Quebec flag on the forum just to show where they are sponsoring from since we need more procedures in Quebec...

I just wanted to share my timeline as I appreciate very much the sharing of the other people form the forum.

It shouldn't, write a letter and include it with the application stating that your wife hasn't worked and that's why you don't have a labor record. I'm not familiar with these specifically so if it's possible to get one that has her information but no work dates that would be better than nothing. As a basic rule of thumb include a letter and explain the situation when you aren't able to include a piece of information they ask for.

You can print them, with mine I pasted them into a word document and put captions below each of the pictures, showing the date, who is in the pictures and an explanation if neccesary

The form validation lets them easily scan the form in and removes the potential for human error and probably makes the process a little faster but you can submit without the bar codes.

You can click on profile at the top and then forum profile information on the left. You should be able to choose the Quebec flag on that screen. The timeline is on the same screen.

Удачи брат

Not sure if that's right, haven't spoken Russian in over a decade :)

You also require a minimum number of posts before the option becomes available to you in your profile.

my wife is duel Syrian and Armenian national. We are applying with her Armenian passport (quicker process, and Syria is obviously a place with lots of issues right now). However, my wife has never worked in Armenia. They also ask for the "work book". Should we just get one, translate anything that needs translating, and then write a letter to go with it explaining that she's never worked?

Also, my wife grew up in Syria, left when the war there became too dangerous, and has lived in Lebanon and worked there. All of this has been on a tourist visa, so it's been fairly casual. What should we do about a labour record there? Is a letter from a former employer enough?

Thanks :)

Just explain she has never worked in Armenia and so has no workbook. She does not need one from Lebanon. There she just has to list her employment in the work history section.

Just saying guys. My wife got to Canada. I followed tips I got from this forum. It only took 3 monthes. If anyone has questions regarding sponsorship, maybe I can help.

Cheers.

Excellent, we'll do that then. Thanks!

Does anyone know the ins and outs of the medical from former Soviet states? I've been told by some people that she does have to do it before we apply, and also that we can do it later. At this point I really don't know who to believe! We've almost got the paperwork in order, just a few stumbling blocks!
