Dear All,

I need to ask is it necessary to add passport Numbers in the application form of a 15 day old son & wife or just filling with APPLIED FOR is acceptable? As both are not going to accompany me to Canada as well.

I'm afraid they reject my application as imcomplete.

Dear Leon, U please reply.

Thanks to all & take care.

how long does it take to get a new passport in your country.

If it is just a few days, then you might as well wait for the passports.

If its like 6months, then you should apply and write a letter saying that you have applied for a passport. The worst thing that can happen is that they return everything and you apply after the passports arrive. You would then loose only a little bit for postage costs.
Actually passport processing takes around 15 days to complete but the documents they require are not ready and hence that could take around 2-3 months!

Dear do you come across any case where someone used APPLIED FOR & his or her documents got accepted to further process?

If you are in Pakistan then making passport is easy and all they need is NIC. I recently took my wife for passport and they didn't ask for any docs except NIC.

Salman,

I don't know if this would be of help to you or not, but in our case my 5-yr old son had no passport, instead he is registered on the pages for Dependent/Accompanying Children on his mother's passport (His photo, name, date of birth etc info added on his mother's passport, this allows him to travel abroad as long as he travels with his mom). I typed on the application form where they ask the kid's passport number: "Registered to mother's passport" and then submitted our application in Apr-08 to CIC Ankara/Turkey. My application was accepted. So I assume that initially it shouldn't be a problem writing a logical explanation instead of a passport number, as long as you'll make valid passports available on the date they decide to issue your visas. But then again, there might be differences between CIC offices around the world. Besides, I submitted "simplified application" by then (Which is not used nowadays), therefore I cannot assure you 100% that there wouldn't be a problem.
