Hi,

I'm in an interesting scenario right now and would appreciate some advice.

I studied in Canada and got my PGWP for 3 years.
My then girlfriend studied in Canada as well and got a PGWP for 1 year.

We recently got married and her PGWP is about to expire in 10 months (mine is still valid for 3 more years).

What is the best option for us in this case?
1) My wife should apply for a PGWP extension on her own?
2) Can my wife get a spousal work permit based on my PGWP?

Any other options?

Thanks.

Option 1 not possible as a PGWP cannot be extended unless was issued short due to passport expiry. So you should try for option 2.

1. As said above, she can't extend her PGWP.

2. If you are currently working in a NOC A, B or 0 job, she can apply for a spousal OWP. If you don't have a skilled job, she doesn't qualify.

Thanks. I do have a job in the NOC 0 category and so does she.

So best option looks like Spousal work permit for her followed by a PR application for both of us.
