Spouse open work permit

Hello,

I have been working in canada since Dec 2013 on Closed work permit and it is valid till Nov 2015 where as my spouse is on Open work permit for the same duration.

I would like to know what will happen in case my employer break my contract now due to xyz reason.Do I have to leave canada immediately ?
I need to know if my wife can stay in canada or she will have to leave as well though she has OPEN work permit till Nov 2015?

Hi,

We are in a similar situation. My husband has to go back as his project is ending, (though his Work Permit is valid for another year).
I work on Open Work Permit (valid for 1 more year).

Could you please help us on any information on what action your wife took?

We have not taken any action and applying for PR under express entry.

It changes nothing for both the cases.

If a person on closed work permit loses his job, he is authorized to stay in Canada as long as his permit is valid (the original expiry), though he cannot work for another employer without the employer first repeating the same process and getting him a new work permit.

Similarly the spousal work permit is also valid till its expiry
