Hey Everyone,
I just have a question I recently completed my post secondary education from ontario and I am applying for my open work permit but before that i want to know when i get my open work permit which province will be best for PNP or to apply for permanent residency.
It will be alberta, Manitoba or Quebec? And what about regina?
Can we work in quebec using our open work permit?
I heard there will be change in rules in alberta from Jan 2,2018

Pls what documents did you submit for the SOWP application?
I will resume for work in december 2017 and will like to know how soon i can start SOWP for my spouse.
If i were to apply a month after i resume work, is it a must i attach a statement of account from a Canadian bank because by then i will not have enough in it or should i just attach 3 payslips alone with other documents?

I had applied my wife's SOWP on the July 5th from VFS Delhi. I haven't got the medical request yet. How are paper applications from July 25th Processed while 5th is not? Any updates from anyone on the timelines ?

Hi, Applied SOWP on 12th oct via online and got an automated mail from them on 13th oct confirming that they have received my application .
Upfront medicals as well.
Now fingers crossed and waiting for further updates.

Last month ,processing time (india )was 8 weeks and now it is changed to 13 weeks (updated in cic site)

Dear All,

I have query on Spouse Open work permit. I am an Indian citizen and i got Canadian WP and expecting to get my and family TRV stamped in next few days. I will travel first and then my family will accompany me in next few days (spouse and kid)

My spouse is also working and she is looking for opportunity within her organization. Now my question is, can i apply for her open work permit while being in India before i travel to Canada. If this is possible then i assume that she will get her OWP when she reach Canada. Also i think after OWP approval i dont have to send her passport again to embassy since Visitor visa is already there. And would she be able to continue with her existing organization on similar OWP. Normally how long will it take for OWP approval online.

Hi Everyone,

I am an Indian national, currently in Toronto on a 3 year Post Graduate Work Permit, issued to me in May this year.

I am getting married in India on December 14/2017 and wish to bring my Mrs along on Dec 22/2017.

She already has a visitor visa for Canada( issued 2015) and intend to apply for an Open Work Permit(OWP) soon after she arrives here.

Will there be any concerns at Immigration if we are travelling together?

We will carry a marriage certificate to prove our relationship status, her recently issued Police Clearance Certificate and a return ticket for her(as per her visitor entry visa requirements).I will also have proof of employment/income for the immigration officer's perusal.

Are there any by any additional documents that we may have to carry?/ minimum funds we need to maintain?or any other requirements?

I have had several unsuccessful attempts(dropped calls) in trying to connect with an agent on the CIC toll free #"

My goal is to ensure that she has a comfortable and hassle free move into Canada.

Hope you all can kindly help me with some expert guidance.

hey guys i am filling this OPW form online and here i have 2 forms. one is TRV form and other is OPW form. I already have canada's visit visa for 4 years and i am already in canada. so do i need to fill the TRV form as well?

Hi guys,

I am a graduate student in Canada, my spouse, citizen of Afghanistan, has applied for SOWP on August 22, 2017, confirmation's received on August 25th along with a request of finger print. He provided his biometrics in New Delhi on 1st September. Medical exam has done upfront.

This is our second attempt, previous one was refused. Since we have applied today's 72nd day, we are confused and worried, processing time is changed from 8 weeks to 9 weeks, in our case we are over the processing time. Of course, we keep our fingers crossed and we hope this time cic.gc.ca will issue the visa but waiting time kills us...

Is here anyone in the same boat? Or your application was approved/rejected?

TILL NOW NO UPDATE ABOUT THE APPLICATION, IT IS MORE THAN 20 WEEKS NOW SINCE I APPLIED, ANYBODY HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE LIKE ME APPLIED FROM UNITED ARAB EMIRATES?

WHAT I HAVE TO DO ACTUALLY? IF I CALL CIC CALL CENTER IN CANADA IT CAN HELP ME?

Is there any change on your application?

My husband applied online with the same visa centre, for us it's more than 10 weeks.
