Hello guys!
I am from Norway and my girlfriend has been working in Toronto since January in one of the level 0, A or B positions. I was also there in January and i got a Job offer there in a NOC 1522 (Level C) job. My new employer applied for an LMIA through the TFWP but it came back negative today.
I was wondering if you have any advice for me what to do. I was thinking about applying for an open work permit but the problem is we have been in a long distance relationship for almost 3 years, but we are not married nor do we qualify as common-law since we have never lived together. The only thing we have linking us together in a relationship is the lease for an apartment in Toronto that we got in January, plus we have some pictures of us together and so on. Maybe even some receipts for some travelling we have done together. Do you guys think it would be worth a try to apply for the OWP or would it be a waste of money? Would it help if we got married, (drastic i know) or would that be turned down because of the length of the hypothetical marriage? Any helpful advice you guys have would be appreciated
Thanks guys!
