It depends upon you, you could go either way. Each has its own pros and cons.

Applying alone when being married shows your strong ties to home country because of family. Plus it requires lesser proof of funds
Down side is that the spouse will have a harder time when he/she applies. Often multiple refusals with "no strong home ties et al".

When you apply together, most likely either both are approved or both are refused. You would need to show more funds and strong ties, but the chances of approval for spouse are higher when applying together.

So at the end of the day it is your call. What's more important to you and how good circumstances do you have to support your situation

thanks fkl

i actually agree with u...i feel more than the circumstances its actually logic that they can reject visa anytime...so what is the difference when applying together or separately..

also even if i apply separately they will know that now or later my spouse will be applying it...so no point hiding...

Hi ramangill,

Yes medical is necessary from India.
First look at the points mentioned in the refusal letter. Often they are very generic and given little info but at other times they could be specific. If you find it difficult to get the reasons, then apply for GCMS notes. Since you are in Canada you can get those on behalf of your husband with in a month.

Google on this forum if you don't know how to obtain GCMS notes.

Notes would be very specific to your case, so address the concerns and apply.
Thanks fkl for response.
Refusal letter states that VO is not convinced that you will leave canada by end of your stay, you purpose of visit is not clear and your current employment status. My husband has a job in Merchant navy as Electrical engineer and his job is contract based. He has not gone for any trip after our marriage because we wanted to stay together for some time an afterwards we were busy collecting the docs for sowp file. do I need to ask for GCMS notes or the reasons are clear as such. what should I do next.
Thanks

Hello!

Two questions:

1) I was filling out the questionnaire to determine the eligibility of me demanding a study permit and my partner for her OWP. Among the documents required for the application, one stood out:

"Purpose of Travel - Other". What exactly is this document?

2) Among the questions of the questionnaire, I don't fully understand this one:
"Are you accompanying a family member that has status in Canada, or has recently been approved to come to Canada?"

Family member means a relative like father, mother, sister, etc = in this case the answer is no
OR
it means my common-law partner, who at the moment has no status but will have in case her application is approved? = in this case the answer is yes, since we will go together

Thanks!

And another question! Smiley

This is regarding our status in England. My partner and I are EU citizens, so we do not need any visa to stay, study, work in England. Both our applications (study 1294, and work 1295) ask for our current country of residence and our status there.

Our current country of residence is England.

Our status? I graduated last January, so I am no longer a student and not currently working. Should I put "Foreign National"?
My partner is currently working, so she should probably put "Worker", however we are not so sure on when we'll leave the country.

Should we just put "Foreign Nationals" and thus avoid to put "Dates From and To"? Thanks again!
Anybody? :D

Also, how to ans2er the following question on the application process?

"Are you accompanying a family member that has status in Canada, or has recently been approved to come to Canada?"

Family member is a common-law partner too according to the CIC glossary, and since my partner and I want to go together then the ansewr should be YES, even though neither she nor I have any VISA yet?

The answer is no. Your family member has not been approved yet and has no status in Canada

Thank you!

Hello,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
I just got nominated on BC PNP, and I already have a OWP, and it is valid until 2016, however, my wife is with a study permit and I would like to change her status to have a OWP. PNP office won't give me a support letter to my wife, and they told me to go through CIC to get one.

Accordantly to the link bellow, once I am on NOC A, I can just ask for a OWP to my wife, is that correct?

www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=199&t=17

Cheers,
Daniel

If you have an open work permit, i presume it is PGWP, in which case you need to have a NOC 0, A or B job and provide proof for it in order for your spouse to be eligible for SOWP.

Another question... Does anyone knows how I have to request my wife's work permit after I was nominated on BCPNP?
Do I have to do it on my name requesting to my wife? Or she can just put on her name and attach our marriage certificate and my nomination...

Hope someone can help me!

Cheers,
Daniel
