With two refusals, i suggest you should get gcms notes first to get detailed reasons of refusal and make sure you address those the next time you apply.tomdele said:I am new to this forum. I hope that experienced members of this forum would be able to offer advice and driving my wife's and kid application forward. I am a full time student in canada for master's degree. I applied for TRV for my wife and one of kids, but it was refused twice for the generic reasons. Now Having read from this forum, I am planning to apply OWP for her. I have 3 kids but only 2 of them dont need a visa to come to Canada. No I have some questions regarding this OWP and the visitor visa for my kid.
1. My passport student permit expire on May 7, 2015 and my student permit expires August 30th, 2015. But my study is expected to be completed in April 2016. I read in this forum about validity of study/work permit/TRV can affect getting OWP approved for spouse, I plan to apply for OWP for my wife in Sept and the processing time in my region is 6 months, can I still apply for her?
2. Can I apply for my kid as a visitor alongside her OWP application?
3. What are the documentations I would require this time for OWP and the visitor visa for my kid?
1. You can still apply but having validity of about 6 months or so for her sowp / trv (since it can only be issued till the expiry of your study permit) is a concern and it could go either way. If you apply for gcms notes, it would take a month to get those at least. I have seen people with shorter work contracts (a year only) submitting detailed letters from supervisors, explaining that their grants / program at a time cannot be longer. But the applicant's progress is good and they have every intention of renewing. This helped some body doing a post doc - get SOWP and trv for his family even when his current permit was due to expire in about 8-9 months when he applied. May be you could try something similar.
2. Sure - you can
3. It is hard to answer that generic a question. You should list what you think needs to be included and i can tell what else might be required. But generally your proof of relationship, kids birth certificate, proof of funds (for their stay for a year), police clearance, spouse's profile (education and work if any - since that would help). Any thing that can help with proving local ties. Of course your study permit, financial condition in Canada, recent feedback from your supervisor showing you are doing well over there etc. should be minimum
