Yes I called CIC in Canada. They have a voice recording that states which applications they are currently working on. It mentioned April 8th for online applications. I dont remember the date mentioned for Paper applications.

You can check your status through the CIC website if you have applied online or using the below link if it is a paper application.

Dear FKL,

I have a question and was hoping you could share your insights. I applied for my wife's SOWP on March 14th. I work in one of the banks in Toronto with NOC 1112 (This is either NOC O or A, not entirely sure). My letter of employment states my title, salary (above median per the link you shared in your other answers) and NOC.

With a lot of strings pulled, I have convinced my HR recently to produce another letter with a few lines about my duties and responsibilities. If the delay caused by updating application isn't too long (I don't know if you know how much the delay is), I am willing to delay the verdict if that improves my chances of approval.

Do you think it makes sense for me to update my application now (i haven't been approved/rejected yet) or do you think I should just hope for the best and sit tight?

You should be able to track online applications through CIC website, irrespective of where you applied from. For Paper applications, the link I shared should work. I am not fully confident since I applied online and that link was shared by some other member of this forum.

Thanks for your reply.
I applied for the GCMS notes and get few days ago, on the last page the reason mentioned as below:

PA is applying under C-41 given that spouse holds a PGWP and valid till Sep-2018. Marriage certificate provided. PA is a housewife with no any employment history. PA will therefore be at lease initially dependent upon her spouse. Whose financial circumstances do not demonstrate an ability to support an additional person. Spouse is employed as a Electronics Engineering Design Technologist NOC 2241 earning 16$ per hour and shows the modest funds, the current status of which is questionable given financials reflect circumstances in Dec 2015. PA provides an ICIC bank balance that is not supported by banking transaction to provide provenance of funds and nonetheless would be impacted by international travel. Not satisfied the requirements for issuance are met. Refused. PA-Please initiate refund. Thank You.



I would like to inform i have shown 18,000CAD and 3,00,000 INR with 33,000CAD annual salary. As i sent money for showing balance in India through hawala it is only few transaction in 1 month to deposit money in the bank account and because of that not shown the balance with the transaction history. Just putted the balance summary.

So what i should take care while reapplying. Please advice.

If you haven't had a decision yet, its always better to attach any further info you think is useful. If HR got you a new letter, that's great. If they refused or something, you could provide anything e.g. your request and their refusal along with a copy of ANY work correspondence that sheds light on your roles and responsibilities. Do this asap. It would only matter if the info is already attached to your file when the visa officer reviews it and generally CIC takes up to a week to do so.

Assuming you got into an appropriate program / university, your spouse and kids are eligible for SOWP / study permits. But you would have to show funds for at least a year's expense. Plus you have to prove strong ties to home country, which given your situation doesn't look promising.

Though I am not certain what are your plans on funding their living in Canada if you are studying.

Many spouses are home makers and get work permits even if they don't plan on working. But usually the principal applicant has strong grounds to support those. Without those, visa officer would simply say I am satisfied of means of managing living expense and refuse.

What you already planned is good enough. Provide appropriate source of funds as well as have them continuously in your account for the period.

Plus if your employer is willing to offer you to work from their Montreal office, why don't they provide you with a formal job offer? That would have a huge positive impact on your application.

You just have to make it very explicitly clear - that your criteria for eligibility of work permit IS BASED UPON YOUR SPOUSE's education. It is only that you got a job offer from your current employer. Otherwise CIC would think of it as a job offer which requires LMIA.

However, if presented correctly this would make a strong case. Good luck
