I am a student in Canada and applied for my husband's OWP online on 23rd july without upfront medicals. The status is still showing 'we will let you know once we start reviewing your eligibility'. Does any1 know how much time it takes for the visa or for status to change as its already been more than 2 months and they have not even started reviewing the eligibility.

I'm not working right now and don't have savings or properties either. My husband mentioned in the invitation letter that he would be supporting me financially. Didn't mention anywhere in the application that I have an intention to return to India. No travel history either.

timeline depends on the country you are applying from. so check the processing times for your country on the CIC website.

Documents are a lot and since we applied together in one envelope, its hard to split them. its everything you will need for a study permit and more. below is what i remember;

proof of funds
offer and acceptance letter
proof of registration for semester(timetable etc)
proof of accommodation(in Canada)
SOP by my self (study permit)
SOP by spouse (OWP )
explanation letter by me(why i need spouse and toddler with me)
employment letter from spouse employer
marriage certificate
pictures from all vacations(to prove we travel together)
proof of education/ qualifications(self and spouse)
proof of ties at home
application forms

How much fund should we show in our account for spouse? Other than GIC.

List of Supporting Documents for Application:
1. Support letter
2. Passport copy with all the used pages
3. Study permit
4. CRA tax receipts along with T4/T4A
5. Pay stubs from University
6. Bank account statements showing proof of funds in Canada
7. Bank account statements of spouse in India
8. Pay stubs of spouse in India
9. Support letter from parents and in-laws
10. Financial account statements from parents and in-laws
11. Property valuation documents (if any property available)
12. Proof of wedding (marriage invitation, photos etc)


List of documents for online application:

1. Application form
2. Family details form
3. Passport
4. Proof of medicals Medicals


This is all I could think of at this moment. The list of supporting documents were all attached as a single pdf file containing over 80 pages. I spent almost 4 sleepless nights trying to compress the file without losing any details. I was so stupid that I had butter in my hands and was looking for ghee elsewhere lol..... Easiest way to compress would be to use MS-Word.

HELLO

I am currently on my post graduated work permit and elegible to apply for my PR as well but before i applt for my PR i want to get my spouse here on work permit as and once he comes we both can apply for the PR
is it ok if i do this??

Also we are just engaged now i will go next month for my marriage and we will do a court marriage so can i come back and apply directly for his work permit or i have to wait?? is there any time gap required between marriage and application of work permit for spouse??

Assuming My husband has trv and i have the wp. Should i apply for his sowp from India or should we wait till we reach Canada?
Can you guys help me with come advice

what did you do finally? Did you apply for sowp from India?
Many people have a question of whether sowp can be applied from outside Canada or it's compulsory to apply it from within Canada.
If it's possible to apply from outside Canada then does inland application get processed faster?

UCI assigned on 20th Dec.

Passport Request: 7th Feb 2018

Passport submitted to VFS on 8th Feb 2018

Passport received back with Visa stamp on 14th Feb 2018

Thanks for the info. So this confirms that SOWP can be applied from outside Canada. Were you in Canada on PR or work permit? when your wife had applied for SOWP
