Spouse Open Work Permit Paper Based with Medical Upfront applied in New Delhi

Hi Friend,

I have applied for my wife's Open Dependent Work Permit on 9th Jun 2016. It's a paper based application with medical upfront in New Delhi. Now when I am calling VFS New Delhi, they are telling that application is submitted under work permit category, is it the case Open Dependent Work Permit will also be applied under Work Permit category?

Regarding processing time, when I am checking online, it is telling 9 weeks for the work permit, but nothing specifically mentioned regarding Open Dependent Work Permit. I thought it should come withing 3-4 weeks.
Anybody processing Open Dependent Work Permit, can you please share your experience and let me know how long it might take for me?

yes eventually its a work permit but open one. it shld take 9 weeks or more. i applied for mine 22 apr and processing time was 2 months back then now its2 months already and my lawyer is doing case specific inquiry. so ya gudluck if it works out in the given time frame. make sure to keep ur patience, the wait could be really frustrating.

oh my god which means i should wait much long, i have applied on 17th june at bangalore VFS paper application and upfront medical on 16th. should i wait another 8 weeks ?

i do not buddy, some people here have been lucky to had their visa done withing 2 months. most cases i read on the forum i found vfs banglore works fast. but yes u shld still b patient with the processing time mentioned. i waited 2 months already, im still keeping my patience. i wish u gudluck buddy just keep us updated so we all can share n help each other out. peace bro

@Yadav- Please keep us posted abt ur updates.. Even I am waiting for SOWP for my husband, we applied for study permit and SOWP together on May 13th. My study permit is approved.

I still wondering in this electronic generation some process is stil inconvenient to humans. What do they do with the applications. I accept they may cross check with the employer in canada by the applicants identity. But y SOWP? Why isnt work permit and open work permit has the same processing time mr Yadav.? Trust me upto droping application in vfs i knew its going wel n good but after that dono what vfs does with them

I complete agree with you Victor. Why the SOWP should take that long time? The timeline of 9 weeks is very strange, And the problem is that there is no specific timeline for SOWP mentioned

I work in Canada and my wife is here on Visitor Visa. She is eligible for PR application ( FSW category).

Can she apply for PR Visa (FSW) while living here on Visitor Visa ?

or

She needs to go back India and apply PR from home country (India) ?

Please can anyone suggest if already have applied PR from Canada while staying on Visitor Visa
