Spouse open work permit! need help

Hi guys,
I need some info, is it possible if i come to canada on study permit and during my masters program i apply for my wifes open work permit.
i have read that its difficult if you are on your study permit compared to when you are on your post graduate work permit, is this true?

Yes you can apply but it is not guaranteed. At the moment due to travel restrictions your wife would not Be able to join you, even with the OWP, unless she gets a special approval letter that shows that her travel is essential. The chances of masters students getting approved for SOWP are better than other students if you have the funds to support another person. You still have to factor in the travel restrictions.

its a future plan buddy , i will be coming to canada next year. So was wondering how much time it would take for me to get her open work permit .
Could you suggest me ways to improve my chances of getting a sowp as a masters student ?
Having a higher gic is one , anything else?
