Can you please share the details like from where you applied and paper-based or online. I applied on 17 May online from India but no update. Still waiting for medical request.

How should spouse open work permit check the processing time? Should we select only Work Permit or Work Permit Extension (new employer) in drop down?

Processing time is usually 4 months. You were told this months ago.

CIC is almost done issuing visa for students and they have started processing April applicant. Many received PPR request today. May applicants are not far behind.

Don't get the problem. You will hear whether he gets the visa in the next month or two. You'll be busy with school and I assume he is still working.
