Spouse Open work permit for ICT holder

Hi,

I recently received my ICT with a W1 category worker visa for me and V-1 category Visitor visa for my wife. My employer doesn't apply for SOWP as per internal policy. I would now like to go ahead and apply for Open work permit for my spouse.

I have a few questions regarding the below requirement from IRCC website (in bold):

Proof that the principal applicant is or will be working in an occupation in TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the National Occupation Classification system:
For most open work permit holders, such as those under the PGWP program or International Experience Canada, the proof should be a letter from the principal foreign worker’s current employer that shows

• their employment details
• their occupation
• a description of their duties
• the NOC or TEER category their job is classified under or a copy of the letter of offer of employment

Do I need to submit anything additional for this requirement for the spouse open work permit or the Letter of introduction/VISA copy is suffice? My ICT was applied in TEER 0 category. Do I need anything additional to support the open work permit application?

Demonstrate your Employment with Offer letter in Canadian format and prove you have a Teer 0 category job other than what you have mentioned

If your spouse has a Visitor visa already then if I were you, I would apply SOWP after arriving in Canada with Canadian Payslips of the primary Applicant

If your spouse has a Visitor visa already then if I were you, I would apply SOWP after arriving in Canada with Canadian Payslips of the primary Applicant

Mine is a company transfer (ICT) meaning I continue to work for the same parent company. Infact the company did all the paperwork for the ICT.

What is the benefit in applying after reaching Canada? Is it faster/easier?

Helps establish the grounds for a SOWP a lot more easily

I would not have said this if you had applied your ICT and the SOWP together - Which makes a lot of sense again

Outside of all this, your spouse still has to demonstrate financial ability, show home ties, justify purpose of visit on the SOWP application
