Spouse open work permit and private college....

my spouse has applied for a student visa in Vancouver in a private college 2 years full time and yesterday she got his visa accepted, but our immigration agent has told that given that it she applied for a private college i have just 50% of chance to get my open work permit.
they can really deny my visa for this reason

Cannot answer what chances are for a spouse open work permit as that would be speculation but hopefully your spouse realises that they will likely not qualify for a PGWP after attending a private college. General advice is to always attend a public college when planning to study in Canada.

Only based on that link seems need to attend a public college only unless can meet the third listed item and if so whether your spouse is actually attending a degree course would be my thinking but thats only a personal interpretation. Which college in Vancouver ?

Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law (for example, Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree)

Spouses of international student are allowed to apply but are not guaranteed OWP. Many spouse/families are refused visas in both private and public schools.

so what you are saying is that is is private or public that s not one of the main reason for deny a visa

No but I do think there is a much smaller chance with private. That is based on observation. The criteria for accepting spouses of students is not publicized. Spouses of masters and PhD students would have a much higher chance of approval because their chances of remaining in Canada are much higher. Canada would also like to retain these students for the longterm as well. It will also depend on whether you have the funds to support yourselves if the spouse is unable to find a job. Your spouse hasn't even been accepted so you are getting ahead of yourself. It may be quite hard to convince CIC that your wife has to come all the way to Canada for one of their courses.

Got it. The only think i can do is to wait for an answer... I have applied on the 21 of September and the processing time from Italy for the OWP is 6 week s.. fingers cross

Hi, I am studying at a private school that does not award degrees, but we got the OWP two years ago, I applied for an extension (student and OWP for spouse) got the student extension but OWP was refused based on that fact. Did you get yours?
