Hello everyone,
I am in a very weird condition. My spouse is a recent graduate from Mcgill University, Quebec, Canada. We arrived Canada on 2010 together. She was in a study permit and I was granted a work permit during her study. Since now she already graduated, she applied the Post Graduation Work Permit and also she received it. I applied for the work permit at the same time and got rejected. They said my spouse should have a job that falls under NOC 0, A or B level in order for me to get work permit. Now I do not have any status since 18th March 2013. In this case I should pay a Restoration fee and apply for the status within 90 days or else I need to leave Canada. Can you please suggest me for which status shall I apply? Since if I get rejected once again I won't have enough time to re apply again. I want to stay with my spouse until she has a Post Graduation Work Permit. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Yes, you'll need to pay for restoration.

Does your wife have a job yet? (And if so, is it a NOC A, B, or 0 job?)

Hi Amikety,

My wife doesn't have a job yet. So I am not eligible to apply for work permit. My question is " In order to stay in Canada can I apply for the Visitor Permit or I need to wait unless my wife get some job. I am really confused. I just have 90 days time for restoration.

Thanks
Uttam

Apply for visitor status . You can change it to worker later when your wife gets a job.

Hi Amikety,

Thanks for the information. Few more queries on my mind. I now knew that I have to restore my status as visitor unless my wife get a NOC level 0 A or B job. I even visited cic website and found out that I could apply the restoration online. But I am confused with one thing. The self assessment shows only $200 in total for restoration but do not charge anything for Visitor permit. Is there a extra charge for visitor permit? I found some where a post on canadavisa.com discussion forum that they rejected somebody's restoration because of insufficient processing fee (he just paid the restoration fee). If same thing happens to me, I would not have another chance to apply for the restoration and should leave Canada by the end of 90 days. I am worried about that..

Hope you have a solution to my problem..
Thanks in Advance

Yes, there's a separate fee for Visitor's status. $200 is the restoration alone.

1. Enter Client ID number of your work permit. Option comes before you create MyCIC account.
