Spouse NOC code change?

Hello!

I'm sorry if this had been asked before but I really can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Hoping someone here might be able to advise me!

I was lucky enough to receive an ITA last night, me and my spouse are at 467 points. Looking over all the documents and forms, we realized my husband's current ocupation might be better suited to another NOC code (we can't find one that matches 90% yet!).

We have 5 points from his work experience, but I'm worried that, if we do end up having to change it on application after ITA, it might be a reason for us to be rejected.

Is it possible to change Spouse's NOC code after ITA? How do I know if changing the NOC code of my husband's job would lower our ranking and thus be a reason for rejection? Or do they just count that it's full time experience and the NOC code doesn't affect the points awarded for Spouse work?

I'm so nervous! I hope someone can help, we'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Is the experience in Canada or foreign? I'm assuming that if it counts under CRS points, it may be in Canada? And does the new NOC fall within 0,A and B?

Hello,

Yes, it is Canadian experience. The new experience: we're not sure. We can't find a suitable NOC code for him since he is a Demand Planner. We originally had him as NOC 1225 which is B, but his duties have changed and now we can't match him with anything, really!

There's inventory control worker but it's NOC C and it doesn't quite match as he does much more than those dutoes.

You've to take care of 3 things while changing the NOC.

1. Ensure you don't drop below 67/100 on FSW eligibility. You'll have to make sure you have reference letters showing spouse's experience in the chosen NOC.

2. Ensure you don't lose out on 10 CRS points. Requirement is same as above.

3. You'll need those points only if you're falling below 67/100 or if you need those 10 points to still be eligible for the ITA. If you don't need them for both those scenarios, remove reference to spouse's work experience from your profile and proceed with submission.

Have you tried sending them an email on noc-cnp@workingincanada.gc.ca ?

Also, if its in Canada, maybe he can ask his HR what category they have put him under - maybe they would have some system?

Hello,

Thank you so much for your reply! How do I make sure I'm not falling below 67/100? Where can I check this?

I'm sorry if it's obvious information, I'm just not very familiar with the process!

We were awarded 5 points for his one year of Canadian work experience. The NOC code we want to change is of his second job, which he obtained after he completed the first year of work experience under an NOC B.

Should we remove reference to his second job, which is the one that is causing us issues with the NOC code, and just keep the first job which awarded us those 5 CRS points?

Can we simply omit mentioning his second job, as this one doesn't factor into our total CRS score, on the application paperwork we are sending after our ITA? We did mention it on the Express Entry profile, we didn't know it wasn't really giving us any extra points. But can we just omit it if it's not factoring into our points even we mentioned it before?

Thank you so much!! You've put my mind at ease and I'm getting a better idea in how to do this :)

Yes. CIC does not demand or need full disclosure of work experience. Only those jobs which you have used to get points need to be proved with reference letters.

Amazing! So, should I remove that reference from my Express Entry profile and then submit my paperwork or just leave it but don't mention it on the Work Experience form on the application we are submitting now that we got ITA? I guess, since we got ITA, we can't really modify our profile now.

In any case, thank you SO MUCH for your quick replies and help. You really clarified everything and made us feel much more at ease with our application.

Thank you!!

You can modify work history post ITA with one caveat thrown in - If the changes you make reduce your CRS score or deem you ineligible for the program, then your ITA will be void and application cancelled in due course.

In your case, that doesn't appear to be a concern. Go ahead and remove that job from work history but make sure it isn't adding CRS points (which are why you got the ITA now) or helped with program eligibility (which is again why you got the ITA now).

Here's the link for FSWP 100 points grid http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

Great, thank you again!

Just checked the grid for FSW and we are over 67/100 with just my requirements, so we should still be eligible under FSW without my Spouse's second job.

You guys are awesome! Have a great afternoon! :)
