Others can comment as well but maybe I missed something as never heard that as a requirement to emigrate to Canada. Where did you see or hear this ?

I heard some of my friends added spouse name for US visa but not sure about Canada sponsorship. We got married recently. Apart from Marriage certificate and photos were taken during the marriage, I don't have any other proof to submit for sponsorship like email, chat history or phone call. I thought it is mandatory to add the name as I don't have any other proof.

As long as her passport is still valid, whatever name she have on her passport is fine and as long as the name is the same on her Birth Certificate and other identifications she may have. A valid Marriage Certificate is good enough as a proof of being married.

It is not mandatory to add spouse's name to your passport. However should you need additional relationship proof, the name addition will help!
