Hi there,

I am currently a PR and so is my wife, but she's been living in the US since June 2016 so her PR status will expire around June 2019.

Based on the current processing times I should become a Canadian citizen in Jan 2019. Would that mean that on January 2019 her time outside Canada will stop counting and she will be able to renew her PR (assuming I am living with her)?

I am not very clear about it.

Thanks,
Micbm

If you become a citizen in January 2019, any time she spends with you outside of Canada after January 2019 would contribute towards her PR residency requirement, but it would not retroactively apply to the time she has spent outside Canada with you before you became a citizen.
