Spouse indian passport question!

my future hsband passport is set to expire in nov of 2017 (he is a indian citizen living in india)

I am travelling in March of 2017 from canada (canadian citizen) and applying for his spousal visa once i return from india (april 2017)

Questions

1. How far in advance can he renew /refresh his passport in india because I dont want it to expire in the middle of the application process , so I am worried about this. Can he apply to have it renewed now? even though the expire date is in nov of 2017?

2. how long does it take to get your marriage certificate? ( will be a sikh wedding in punjab)

Any advice appreciated !

Since you plan to visit India in March 2017 for you wedding (Traditional, arranged Sikh Marriage), please make sure you have a copy of your Wedding invitation, Wedding Photographs handy at that time.

Question about your to be Husband Pass port, In India, we are allowed to Renew our passport One Year in advance so i recommend you to ask him to renew his pass port some time in Jan / Feb 2017 it would take about a month.

in the week that you got married, please go the local Sub-Registrar office to apply for Marriage certificate, normally you can get it in few days if its was traditional arrange marriage (provided you have Grade # 10 certificate, in your case your are Foreign citizen (i don't know if there are any special requirements) but in India if you know any local people who work at State Government office you should be able to get things done

i got my Marriage certificate in two days but please note in my case it was a arranged marriage, Parents from both sides were present at Sub-registrar office with all documents and proof of marriage was provided

at this time you should ask your would be husband to renew his pass port, rest all will be normal
