Hi There,

As the principal applicant for residency to Canada through the Skilled Workers program, i am know that i have to do my IELTS.

However, if if my wife does the IELTS too, does that guarantee me additional points?

I would urgently like this issue to be answered.

It is not compulsory for a spouse to take the IELTS (or any other CIC-approved language test). However, if you are coming to Canada with your spouse, you will be awarded points based on your spouse’s language and education. If your spouse opts not to have their education assessed or language testing done, you will not receive those potential points.

To claim 5 points for spouse, mush she also write IELTS? Even thou she has a degree from US?

Its not compulsory. However, if you want to earn more points from spouse adaptability then you opt for taking IELTS.
