Hi All

I would appreciate your advice on the following:

I am a Canadian citizen and I sponsored my wife for Canadian PR. Currently, my wife and I are based in London, UK.

My wife, who is fully vaccinated, wants to complete her landing process before end of Aug 2021 and return next day to the UK. The reason is that she is expected to go through a medical treatment Sept onwards and therefore has been advised not to travel during treatment.

Could she do the landing on her own without me travelling with her? I would prefer not to spend for a day’s trip for my own travel with her as we intend to relocate to Canada early next year.

I do have a local Canadian family friend’s address for delivery of PR card and an address for quarantine in the event the need for that arises.

My questions is:
  • Could she do the landing on her own without me travelling with her?
  • In ArriveCan, what reason must she give for entering Canada. There is an option to select family reunification, however, given that I am in the UK, I don’t know if that option is appropriate.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

People wonder why IRCC has become so demanding about proof of intent to move to Canada after your spouse gets PR. This is why.

Thanks for the sanctimonious response. However, wisodm says not passing premature judgements when full facts are not available to you.

Hi,

I wanted to update that my wife was able to complete her landing successfully at Toronto airport without any issues. She traveled alone (carrying just a backpack) and her docs. She is fully vaccinated in the UK. Per her the immigration officer was very friendly. He just asked her if her husband was picking her up at the airport to which she said I (her husband) was back in London UK). No further questions. She was then asked of a local address to send her PR card and thats it. Upon completing her landing she went straight to the Airport hotel, spent the night and took the return flight next day to London.

My advise is to keep the story ready in your mind in case you are asked such as the fact that uou will be relocating in a few months permanently etc.

Hope this helps. Best if luck.

Cheers
