As per my understanding, when husband is on study permit. Sowp is nothing but copy of a study permit itself. I got know about this when I was enquiring about spouse working hours. So, ppl were suggesting it would be good if spouse also studies with sowp, at least one year course, of course helps later to get wp as well as PR.
If you have enough funds, please carry on with this plan, ofcourse the best one.
