Hi to everyone. I'm new to the forum, so please excuse me if I am breaking any forum rules with the posting of my topic or my question, but I am reading topics in the forum for some time now and I cant find something to comfort my worries. So this is my story. I live in Canada and I am a PR. I am originally from Bulgaria. I went back there and married my girlfriend on 1st of October 2011. I came back and I sent the application to Mississauga. Since then I have received two E-mails that state that I am approved for a Sponsor. So everything sounds good, but I cant figure out what my application status means right now. Here is it:

"Sponsorship Application Status"

{ We received your application to sponsor (My wife's name) on November 21, 2011.
We started processing your application on January 20, 2012.
We sent you a letter on January 20, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. }

"Permanent Residence"
{ We received (My wife's name) application for permanent residence on November 21, 2011.
Medical results have been received. }

From everything that I have red till now I understand that the application for PR goes to VO (Bucharest in my case) and if this is true how this happened that Mississauga and VO Bucharest received the applications in the same time ?
And they say that they started to process the Application on JAN 20 2012, but is that the starting point for both the applications or only for the Sponsorship application. And which of the two dates I have to consider for the PR application? Have they even started processing the Application for PR or no, because they haven't changed the status to "We started processing your application" (the status of the PR app). Are they going to change it when they start processing the application ?
They say between 4 and 8 months for the process to finish, but is that from the date they receive it or the day they start processing it to the day they make a decision or the day she lands here or what ?
Please give me some clear answer to those questions, because not knowing what to expect is ruining my sleep.

The timelines at the visa posts are from when the visa post receives the application package from Mississauga until the visa officer makes a decision. So some of the time the application is just sitting in the embassy waiting to be opened.
The letter they mention will be the decision about whether you qualify as a sponsor.
The embassy did not receive the application the same day as Mississauga; Mississauga has probably sent it already. However, the application was received by the government on Nov. 21, so I suppose that's why they worded it that way.
The decision on Jan. 20 was about your sponsorship.
E-cas is not always updated, so some people have received a passport request or whatever without any change in the e-cas system.

Hey Likeadog ( :) )

What you're seeing on e-cas is just the first step of your application - the sponsorship. Since you apply for sponsorship and PR at the same time, they show the receipt date of these applications in both categories.

The January reference, like canadianwoman stated, informs you that they have reached a decision on your eligibility as a sponsor. Following this decision your spouse's PR application is sent electronically and through diplomatic courier to the VO (visa office) which, in your case (and mine) is Bucharest.
The problem with Bucharest and possibly other VO's is that they rarely if at all send out AOR's (acknowledgement of receipt) anymore. In other words you'll only hear from them once they have something to communicate to you (requests for additional information, request for your passport, interview, medicals, etc). And the wait, from the time they get the file (let's assume Jan 20), would be around 4 to 6 months.

All that to say, don't worry, things are on track and proceeding normally. Arm yourself with patience and keep checking the trackers to see how others are progressing. If I hear from them your reply shouldn't be far behind since we're a month apart.

Cheers!

nb: it's all imho :eek:)

They changed the application status to "In Process". They say they started processing the application on march the 3-rd. So should I start counting 6 months now ? Because I heard the actual "Processing times" are shorter. Some people even say one month. I am so nervous right now. I hope they find everything to be Ok.

Awesome!

Congratulations. You're one step closer to the visa. And the most time is taken by waiting 'in line' for your application to be picked up for processing. In fact you may be one of the lucky ones that get their answer in not 6 but 3 months. It's only been around 1.5 months and you're already 'in process' while in my case I haven't heard from them since they got the application on Dec 15.

All the best with the rest

Hey Guys,

I have a few questions, I have been sponsoring my wife (spouse) that lives in Amman Jordan for approx 8 months now. The processing time for spousal sponsorship is saying 14 months. Since the violence in Syria I have been hearing that all applications have been sent to Beruit and Amman. I am worried that this process is going to take longer than usual because of all this stuff thats happening. I cannot contact CIC because they clearly state that if the application is being processed outside canada they cannot answer any questions. My wife and I are loosing patience and I really don't know what other thing I can do. Has anyone had there application processed whats the usual time i hear some get done earlier. Should I call the Canadian Embassy in Amman. Some info from anyone in the same boat will help.
