Thanks for your response, you are right that I referred to the old schedule1 form. I have a few more questions for you:
my spouse is applying for an open work permit outside Canada, and do you think it is advisable for her to use me as a representative (
Use of a Representative [IMM 5476]?"
I think no harm in keeping your name as Representative and filling Use of a Representative [IMM 5476] form, like this you will officially have access to your wife's application as her representative .
she has completed the following, I hope they the right forms
Pick the forms / checklist from the link I pasted above and I believe those forms are latest ones.
Application for Work Permit Made Outside Canada [IMM 1295]
Family Information [IMM 5645]
Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257 - Schedule 1]
Also, she using a letter from her employer stating her Annual Leave period (it's about month). Will it be a problem since she is applying for an open work permit that is longer than one month? She can't resign from her work because that won't be a wise decision at this early stage.
My understanding says that no point in Showing any leave approval letters at this stage, Because she is applying for WP and she has only 1 month leave so just show an Employment Letter stating from her employer stating that your spouse is currently working at that organization since ( time Period ) and her ( designation ) , Attach Pay Stubs of last three months and Income Tax Returns of last 3 yrs . Show Bank account Statements of yourself and your spouse of last three month . Attach any property or investments proofs you guys have in Home country.
I think this is a generic understanding that she can't risk of resigning a home country job without getting WP approval from Canada, I am not aware about any such requirement from CIC which says that a person must resign his/her job before applying for WP .
How serious is the travel history? My wife has no travel history. She has a well paid job, and so do I. My job falls under category O.
I am not sure how serious is travel history, because if she has not traveled outside home country then you can't create that history forcefully by any artificial means. Travel history just creates a credibility that a person has traveled outside home country before and he/she might return back to home country after expiry date of visa as that person has good history from past travels. But every person needs visa to travel and if every country issues visa by checking past travels then how a person will get visa the very first time. Catch 22 situation .
The application fee for open work permit is $150, and this covers both the work permit and the TRV, right?
Correct
AND you can add any suggestions or comments you have for me as we together my wife's application.
Good Luck with your application.
