Hi, I am on the same boat. I applied for PR and it's in the process and I added my wife to my application. Now I'm planning to apply for a dependent work permit. is it sounds good? please let me know for any concerns.

You can apply while out of the country but you must show intent to move to Canada once your spouse sponsorship is complete.

Only citizens can reside outside Canada while sponsoring a partner. PRs must be residing in Canada for duration of processing. If you leave Canada for an extended period and the visa officer becomes aware of this, they may feel you are no longer residing in Canada so would have grounds to cancel your application entirely.

You are certainly free to travel while PR app is processing, but just don't travel long enough to make it appear you're residing. There is no specific time allowed since it's all at discretion of a random visa officer. I would keep trips to a month maximum, but really it's up to you how much risk you want to take.

Hi,

I have received a mail regarding the Pre Arrival services today(18-Dec-2018).Its been seven months approximately, since we have raised for a PR.Can anyone suggest how long will take for DM? Also I am in USA right now. Is there a possibility for me to get the passport stamping done in USA or should i go to India for passport stamping(I am an Indian Citizen and the application origin is in India)?
