Hi All, I have applied for my spouse sponsorship application. My wife is Canadian PR holder. We have got re-married recently & we both have NO children on previous marriage. I am an Indian citizen obtained divorce from UK Court since my ex-wife is an UK settled person and my ex relationship lasted for 4years and I have got remarried in 2 months at India after getting the divorce from the UK Court. I have submitted the divorced documents along with the application to CIC. Will be there a chance for interview or will it is straightforward application without interview.

No, you can't apply from India. As a PR, you are required to live in Canada throughout the entire sponsorship process.

She can try for a TRV but chances are low.

Can she stay with me while the application for PR is in process. Or should she apply for a TRV before we get married so that she can travel with me.

Hello all,

i have couple of questions here for spousal sponsorship.
1) Only IMM 0008 bar code pages needs to be put on the top of the application right ? or any other bar code farms also ?
2) When they say top of the application, does it mean top of the IMM0008 form or top of the entire application (like first page before the checklist) ?

Please guide.

Thanks;
Chandra

There is always the possibility of an interview. You have provided zero information about the relationship for anyone to even take a guess.

If she has a TRV, she can come to Canada and stay during the process.

Hi Canuck_in_uk: thanks for your reply.
I have provided sufficient information about my present relationship to CIC. I have remarried in Sept.2019 & it is a arranged marriage. I have provided documentary information like marriage registration certificate from India, Engagement & Wedding ceremony photographs at the Church, joint bank account statement, friends & relatives reference letters, new spouse name added to my passport etc...Is this much sufficient?

On the website it tells you the order of the documents:
  • checklist;
  • open work permit application (and supporting documents), if applicable;
  • any barcode pages; [here you include all the barcode pages from all the forms you filled in]
  • supporting documents, in the order they are listed on the checklist.

Hi Seniors,

This is regarding the following question in IMM0008.

Q2. a) Have you ever used any other name (E.g. Nickname, maiden name, alias, etc.)

My wife's (PA) name is ABCDEFGH. However, everyone, including our friends and family call her ABCD (a shorten form of her name).
None of our legal documents have this name. However, in all our communication proof (WhatsApp, emails, texts) i have addressed her by this name.

So should i mention ABCD as her nickname for this question? If so, where should I mention it - in Family Names or Nick names?
OR
Should I just leave it blank and explain in a different sheet?

Your assistance is highly appreciated.

Hi Leon,

I was hoping you could help me with my query. Thank you in advance.

I am currently working in Dubai, UAE and I was planning to move to Canada from here instead of my home country (Philippines). Will this be okay or I would have to go to the Philippines and take my flight from there?

I just got the pre-arrival services letter so we are anticipating that the move can happen soon, fingers crossed.

Below is the timeline for our application:
May 13, 2019 - submitted the application to Mississauga Office
June 5, 2019 - they received the application
July 25, 2019 - they started processing my husband's eligibility as a sponsor
July 31, 2019 - he got approved as a sponsor
July 31, 2019 - I received the medical and biometric instructions
August 4, 2019 - I did my medical and biometrics (in my current country of residence, Dubai)
August 8, 2019 - my medical results have been submitted/uploaded to the e-Medical system
August 14, 2019 - our application was sent to Visa Office in Manila for further processing
August 14, 2019 - they started processing my permanent residence application
October 31, 2019 - pre-arrival services letter received
