Hi Guys,
I am a PR holder and working in Canada, I am planning to marry my girl who currently lives in Germany, was wondering how long does it take to process her PR? Is it 12 months or less than that?
I was in impression that backlogs have been cleared and wait times has reduced drastically

Hi everyone,

Question for anyone who already got a pr card after landing: how long did it take to get the pr card? Was it almost the same as the estimated processing time from Cic?

I have got my COPR, I am considering when to land. I checked the processing time for pr card on the website which said 61 days bt wondering how it works... each case.

Thanks all

Inland is 12 months. It's been reduced from more than double this.

Outland is quicker I believe, but I don't have experience of Outland application process.

Good luck.

Our Outland app took 6 months from start to finish and I've read of many others who had similar experiences but it seems that anything less that 7-8 months is a "best case scenario" and most of those people submitted very detailed applications with no hiccups along the way. Even still, there are others who wait a year with Outland and even with a strong application. I don't think I've read of too many inland applications under the 12 months but I also haven't been following those as closely. See here to have a look at timelines from other people.

My Spousal Application received by CIC canada Mississauga on 26 Mar 2018, they started reviewing my application on 19 April 2018. What next when can I expect to get my medical and visa approval? Anyone with familiar case and have any further correspondence received around my application time?

  1. We received your application for permanent residence on April 20, 2018.
  2. We started processing your application on July 18, 2018.
  3. We sent you medical instructions on June 7, 2018. To avoid delays, please provide us the information requested in the letter as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
  4. Medical results have been received.
What will be the next steps till getting the PR ?
Are you both living in Canada? I mean if your application is inland application?

Hi,

Can anyone help me to on this matter..?

I sponsored my spouse under the family class. I sent all the necessary forms and related documents to IRCC on 15th Jun, 2018. IRCC received that on 18th Jun, 2018. It has been 15 days past over a month and still i didn't get my file number (AOR).

Is this the normal time to get AOR..?

Your help would be appreciate..

No. He must be in Canada at the time the PR application is submitted and must continue living in Canada while the application is processed. Once the application is submitted, short trips outside of Canada are OK (i.e. 2-3 week). Two months is too long and puts the application at risk of refusal.

To make this thing clear i spoke cic agent
She said Permanent residents living abroad cant sponsor . But she said living abroad means people who dont have the residential address in Canada and are not living in cànada for more than 6 months to a year.
She said for two months vacation does not say you are living abroad and i can sponsor my spouse while in India.

This doesn't clear anything up. CIC agents are unfortunately one of the worst sources of information for all but the most basic questions. You've been given bad advice. You don't just need to have a residential address in Canada, you must actually be living in Canada. Based on what we've seen here, you should keep your trip to three weeks or less if you want to avoid the risk of an application being refused.

Thanks for the response @scylla . I hate that cic agents are not the great source of information. Do u know any of the case happened on this forum whose file got rejected when they applied from abroad while they were on vacafion for more than 3 weeks. Its just i am so confused now by this stupid term living abroad as technically i will not be living abroad

Most of the time, waiting in the line for the rep is not worth it. Why not consider gathering all your documents while you're on vacation and once you're back in Canada, mail the application? Days go by pretty fast.
