Plzzz help!!! My spouse is asked to provide a photocopy of new passport since its going to be expired in July. Will this delay our processing time?

It looks like you are just at the beginning of the process so hopefully it won't delay it too much. I guess it depends on how quick you can get a new one and a copy sent.
If it was a PPR request for a copy of your passport then they will not send out your COPR until you have submitted an updated passport copy so you would be delayed a bit.

Hello Guys,

I need your prime support and expertise on Spousal PR application. Here goes my story:

Background - Me (Indian and PR Canada), Wife (Indian and H1B USA).
Relationship - Since 2008, I have all the pictures, mails, messages or chats to justify my relationship.
Marriage - In Canada with 6 friends at my apartment. Only marriage certificate from Ontario government and marriage pictures are there. We didn't do Engagement and reception. Will be doing a social marriage in December back in India.

My questions?
1. Should I take the help of a Consultant/Lawyer?
2. What all documents are required to support my relationship apart from what i mentioned above? (like letters from friends - Any specific format / template would be helpful)
3. Is it a concern that i did a small wedding without family in Canada?

Please help guys. I can do all the paperwork on my own. I am more concerned about the lack of ceremonies and not including our families in marriage, as we couldn't afford it at that point of time.

Thanks in advance.
VA

1. You shouldn't need a lawyer or consultant, but that is up to you. Doesn't sound like your application will be difficult

2. I would maybe add a page from facebook showing that you are a couple or if you announced your engagement or wedding day on there that will help. Otherwise what you have should work. Just remember to keep it to the 10 pages of proof and 20 pictures as per the checklist. If they want more they will request it. Quality over quantity I guess. If you want you can get a letter from a friend or relative stating that they are aware of your relationship, how they met your spouse, when and where type of thing and get it notarized.

3. My husband and I essentially eloped, had no engagement announcement or wedding reception at the time. I did explain though that we were going to have a small reception when he came to Canada so that he could meet my family and friends. My family couldn't afford to fly there and we decided if we just invited his family it would upset my family so it was just the 2 of us. If you explain why you did it that way honestly and that you have plans to go back to India to do the big traditional part of the wedding I am sure it will be fine. IF you have a date set or invitations made for the Reception I would probably include that info.

Hey folks.

Maybe a not so random question. My wife received an email recently that had another letter from CIC in it. In that it stated that our application was sent to CPC-Ottawa. This got me confused because I expected our application to be sent to Vienna since im from Germany.
Anyone has some insights on situations like that?

Sometimes that happens and I would take it as a good thing as Ottawa is usually quicker at processing. From what I have read on the forum here is people are rather ecstatic that it went to Ottawa instead of their home VOs

Hiii...I am planning to apply for my wife's visa. is the process still the same as it is stated on page 1 which was posted in 2010

Some things have changed slightly, December 2016 was the most recent one.

Dear all,

how to present a proof if we marriage same sex without wedding photo? please help me...

Why don't you have wedding photos? I'd say have a reception or something at least, take some pics at that.

Hello Guys!

I am submitting my application shortly. Can we send the background declaration form along with the application to fasten the process? Please advice.

Hello everyone, no one replied when I posted this earlier. Please someone shed some light.

Applied on November 15th , and February 22nd got asked for proof of my intent to come back to Canada once my husband gets his PR. The next day, February 23rd, I sent it all by mail AND my status changed to Background in Process. They received the documents one business day after that.

Has anyone had similar experiences and what is the average timeline ? How long do they look at this proof and how long after background check changes ?

Hey Guys,
My wife(sponsor) received an email mentioning that my application(me the applicant) is sent to the visa office in my country(Lebanon), is there any clue on approximately how much is going to take for issuing my PR?
And what is going to happen after sending the application to my country, is it the final stage ?? they are going to ask me for sending my passport for this PR, or what is the process ?

Thank you a lot guys

Most of the processing is handled by the visa office in your country. At this point your sponsor has been approved as a sponsor - but that's it. The country visa office now has to assess your relationship, medical, background check, security check. So most of the processing has yet to take place. How long this stage takes depends on the visa office and is also individual to each application. I would recommend you find the thread discussing your visa office to find out approximate processing times. Yes - once they are ready to issue your COPR, they will request your passport.

If you are sending the application by a courier service instead of by mail, use this address (no public drop-offs):

Case Processing Centre – Mississauga
2 Robert Speck Parkway, Suite 300
Mississauga, ON
L4Z 1H8
