I agree with scylla here. No need to hire a lawyer. THey quoted us $10,000 retainer and probably $13k to finish the process. We asked our case specific questions then filed ourselves.

The costs to file is $75 for the sponsor application, $475 for the PR application and $490 for Right of Permanent Residence Fee. $1040 total.

I wouldn't see any problems with your case. Either marry or live together for a year before filing.
I get the impression that lawyers and government works in a different way in many far away countries, so people coming think that it might work the same way in Canada and that paying someone would give you special handling and favors from government...... Canada doesn't work that way and should never work that way

I haven't received any update on my application since I received AOR2 on June 2. App received on April. Is this good or bad news? I read somewhere that no news is good news, i hope so
Is it still possible that they ask me for additional docs?

No real special treatment. Just may know the law and remedies people can use to overcome certain problems..

My wife currently stays in US and she is been staying (working) here from past 3 years.
However her nationality in India.

1. What country specific checklist should I must follow? Will that be US or India?
2. I don't see much difference, except for India; they ask to include Foreign Travel Information (SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FORM - DELHI)
3. We are ok to include Supplementary form, but by doing this, we do not want to confuse CIC which would indicate she stays in India, Which is not the case.

Can anyone please suggest?

You can use the US package since she's living in USA.

Hi. My husband is Canadian, I am American and I want to end up in Canada.

I am currently planning my dates and timeline for retirement from my job. We still have much to do, but I am wondering if once I am granted permission to make the move (thinking optimistically here), is there a time deadline that I must make the move within? For instance, if I am granted permission in January but I am not retiring until May, will there be a time issue with my move?

Thank you.

Not sure if have applied for PR. Once a COPR is issued. Usually it's valid for one year from the date of issue.

You must land before the COPR expires. Generally, it is valid for a year from the date of the medical.

If you aren't ready to move to Canada before your COPR expires, you can land and then return to the US to wrap up your affairs.

A COPR is valid for a year from the date of the medical, not a year from the date it is issued.

It's only been a few months. You need to wait.

A CoPR is Valid for the remaining time of the Medical Not 1 year from the date of the Medical .

Surely the remaining time of the medical and 1 year from the date of the medical is the same thing considering that the medicals are valid for a 1 year period.
