I got this letter from London Visa Office: Should I send my fingerprints directly to RCMP or through Commissionaires.

Request for fingerprints in order to complete your RCMP check.

SUBJECT’S NAMES: Qazi Waqas Khan. DoB: 1985/12/28

We are writing with regards to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

Please be aware that in order to complete your RCMP background checks, it is necessary for you to provide a full set of fingerprints taken and certified by your local police. This is at the request of the RCMP. Fingerprints are to be obtained and forwarded to them directly to determine whether you do, in fact, have a record. Please refer to RCMP WEBSITE for full instructions.

Fingerprints taken by private or commercial agencies are not acceptable. Any costs which may be associated with this are your responsibility. You may want to show the police officer taking your fingerprints a copy of this email.

Once a full set of fingerprints has been obtained, please mail them along with a copy of this correspondence to:

The Director - Canadian Criminal Real Time ID Services, RCMP HQ, NPS Bldg., 1200 Vanier Parkway, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0R2, Canada.

Please note, it will not be possible to finalise your application without these fingerprints. Once completed, the results will be returned to you by regular mail. In turn, please mail them to us within 30 days. Please also return a copy of this correspondence with your items/documentation.

Sincerely,

Immigration Section

Hello Everyone,

I am an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Canada. My wife lives in New York City. We recently got married in New York City Hall. I want to bring her to Canada and was wondering which is the quickest way to do so. Either I can file an outland spousal application for her which takes about 10-16 months or she can file under express entry. Currently she is getting 469 points under express entry profile. She can also get extra 10 points for adaptability (spouse's education, work experience and IELTS) but a lawyer told me that she can not get that because it is for people who are not Permanent Residents yet, so I guess in this case my being a permanent resident hurts her case?

Also, can an applicant file her PR under two different categories simultaneously? If we decide to file under both Express Entry and Spousal sponsorship, does she need to take the medical examination twice or one medical exam would suffice for both categories?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Sunny

I don't know much about the Express Entry program, but outland spousal sponsorships US-Canada are being processed in 8-10 months, over 10 months is mostly for applications that have some red flags.

Thank you Kelsey..:)

Do you also know how much is the fees for filing the spousal application?
$75 for the sponsor + $475 for the applicant +$490 for right of permanent residence = $1040 total. You can pay the 490 later after you've been accepted but it's not usually recommended.

Is there a visa application centre (VAC) in your country? CIC website lists locations around the world where you can submit "biometric" data. Here is a link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/vac/list.asp

Good luck.

Hello,

A little about me and my fiancee have to be shared before i would be able to ask questions:

a) I am Indian Citizen, and currently on final stage of my PR application. I am awaiting COPR documents for myself, and hope to land in Canada next month.

b) My fiancee is from Mexico ( Citizen ). We plan to get married by end of this year. She would like to work in Canada.

c) Her brother holds PR in Canada.

I wanted to bring her to Canada after my wedding @ Mexico, and as such i am considering following options ( hoping that procedure is something like this ):

Option a) I would move to Canada by end of this year. Have her move to Canada with a job offer after wedding. If that's a case, she would apply under Express Entry Visa for a PR, and she gets PR. At the time If she prepares the application, she would state that she is wed to me, and provide all proofs as such if needed.
So we would stay as permanent resident in Canada - Is there anything else that has to be done to make sure we are 'wed' as per application status.

Option b) Wed her at Mexico.I would move to Canada by end of this year post wedding. Then start with Spouse Visa. Process as out-land processing, wait for 10 months or so, and if everything goes smooth, she can come to Canada. Apply for work permit.

Option c) Have her come to Canada under TRV. Wed her there. Move for spousal sponsorship under inland processing. Post sponsorship approvals, she can start working immediately while her case is being processed for PR card.

Like to know your thoughts in this matter.

Thanks,
Nara

I would recommend that you assume that obtaining a work permit without first submitting an inland spousal sponsorship application will be very difficult. To qualify to apply for a work permit, she will first have to find an employer in Canada willing to giver her a full time job and then that employer will have to apply for an LMIA. This process takes months, costs the employer $1K and there's still never a guarantee of approval. Similarly, I would assume it will be difficult for her to obtain a TRV (CIC will suspect she has plans to remain in Canada long term). I would recommend that she try to find a job in Canada - if she's lucky then she can come to Canada and may have a few options for applying for PR. Also, try for the TRV - if you're lucky, she'll be able to come here and go through the inland sponsorship process. However there's also a good chance neither will work out and you'll have to apply for her outland. She would then have to wait out the processing of the application in Mexico - while you live in Canada.

Thanks Scylla for your inputs. My life has been hanging on thread, and this forum has been very helpful.
I was thinking to do as outland process, would try to discuss the same with lawyers as well.

Hi guys,

I am applying Outland PR for my wife and also a visitor visa, The consultant we have hired in Delhi is saying that when we are done with the application, we will send the PR application to the Canadian High Commission who will give us a receipt, that receipt will be sent to me in Canada and I will mail it to Mississauga. Also upon getting that receipt we will then submit the visitor visa application right away with a copy of that receipt.

I am very nervous because everyone I have known who went through the process has submitted the application to Mississauga directly.

Also, is it ok to apply for visitor visa at this time? Is it advised to apply for it before or after or at the same time as PR?

I have the same question.

I am a little bit worried because I applied for visitor visa 3 weeks ago and I inclued the letter from my husband who is Canadien and it says that we are beginning the process for PR spousal sponsorship. I had the visitor visa the last year but it expired due to my passport expired. I got married this year and send the application again. Someone told me that they don't use to deliver the visitor visa in these cases when you are applying for PR. I am just starting to collect all documents and evidences but anyway it is indicated in the letter.

Any information? I don't what to do if the visitor visa is refused. I have not seen my husband for 5 months :(

Thanks

FIRE this consultant, s/he is a complete moron. Every single spousal sponsorship app MUST be first submitted to Mississauga. If you send it to the High Commission, it will be returned. And there is no receipt that the High Commission gives you to mail to Mississauga.

On ecas it says ays decision made under Sponsorship Application Status.

The latest line is "Medical results have been received", under PR Application Status.

Out of past experiences wonder what is next? There has been no updates for the past 2 weeks.

Thanks, :)

You wait for a very long time, then the status will change to "In Process" and finally "Decision Made." Along the way the visa office may request more information or your passport, if you are not from a visa-exempt country.

There are several Google Documents spreadsheets floating around, listing other users and their application timelines. Depending on when you applied (and to which visa office), you should be able to compare your timeline to other similarly-situated users.
