unfortunately it's not something that can be controlled. Sometimes if the processing takes too long, they will ask you to get a new medical, sometimes they won't. Luck of the draw.

My next question is when it asks for the travel document id # or what not, I have a passport and an enhanced drivers license- I use the D.L to cross borders, should I put my passport number down or my enhanced D.L?

It depends on which country you're in, what they call it. I think in Canada it would be our drivers license? or any government issued photo ID. In costa rica it's called a cedula and everyone has one and hardly anyone I know down there had a drivers license but it's their national ID and they have to show it when they go to the doctor and stuff and the police can just stop you on the street and ask you for it if they think you're doing something wrong. omg I'm so long winded..... it's a government issued photo ID.

Oh, sorry, you are asking about national ID? The US has no national ID, so you don't put anything in that field.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the board and hoping that someone can shed some light on how best for me to proceed with my spousal sponsorship. I am a Canadian citizen and my boyfriend is South Korean. We've been together for just over four years. (I'm 29 y/o and he is 32 y/o) I was living in Seoul when we met and moved back to Toronto about a year and a half ago to get myself re-established (work-wise), save money and find a place to live before he moves here to join me. I have a steady job right now so we're planning on him coming to Canada this summer. At that time, we'll get married and apply for the spousal visa. Currently, South Koreans can stay in Canada for up to 6 months without a visitor's visa but I've been told that my boyfriend could have difficulty getting through customs if he specifies his intention to marry while in Canada BUT if he doesn't specify his intention to marry then this could come to be viewed as a potential red flag if it is discovered in the application process. It appears that the processing times in Manilla (outland) are shorter than processing times here. (inland) Does it make sense for my boyfriend to come here, get married and then apply outland? Or should we apply inland? Any advice would be most appreciated!

Good day! I am a Filipina and I married a Canadian last March 12 this year . We are confused about applying yet with the spousal visa under family sponsorship and we only have the marriage certificate signed at the local municipal office in my place where we held our wedding . The yellow copy of our marriage certificate issued at NSO ( national statistics office) in manila will takes 3 to 6 months longer. Could we able to start our papers with the marriage certificate issued here in local municipal ? My husband is in Canada already. Once our papers done, where do we able to send it , philippines or in Mississauga Canada? I am applying outland .

Hi! My husband is from the UK, and so am I originally, but he's on a visitors visa that expires May 17th.
We applied under the Inland Family Class Spousal application in on 15th Jan 2014 but have yet to hear anything from immigration at all. No letter or email, is that normal or should I be concerned? I know that processing takes a while but isn't there some kind of letter to say "thanks, we got it"?

Also, our daughter was born on 21st Feb 2014, do you think that her being Canadian and him Welsh would constitute as "Urgent" with him having to return in May? Has anyone else tried to get their visa put through as Urgent?

I'm so scared that they won't let him back in the country on a visitors visa, as we can't even give the border police a reference number or anything to prove we've applied. It will tear our little family apart if he can't get back through! (We're going to the UK as his brother's getting married, but for the whole trip I think my heart will be in my throat).

If he can't get back in to Canada, then what is my Canadian daughter to do in the UK? Any advice???

Can I still use my previously issued visitor's visa (multiple entry). Or do I need to request another visa since the spousal visa that they gave me was a one time entry only pending the release of my PR card.

Applying inland was probably not the best idea. It's much slower than outland, and if he does get rejected at the border, you'll need to restart the application from zero with an outland one. You should get an acknowledgment letter about 3 months after the application was received.

There is no such thing as urgent processing for PR.

Your visitor's visa will no longer be valid. You'll need to get a PRTD, or cross at a land border with your COPR.
