Include the OWP application with the Inland PR application. Then the OP is covered by implied status (see IRPR Section 186(u) - I just quoted it in a different thread in fact where someone asked for the definition of implied status). When you get the open work permit, it will say right on it "status maintained pursuant to Section 186(u)..." to show that you were legal the entire time.

Note that people do run into issues getting health care during implied status - BC will only extend for 3 months (twice) and of course the rules vary by province.

People have reported that some work permits cannot be covered by implied status (notably, those with fixed terms like an IEC work visa), but I don't think that applies to the OP.
Hello CG,

Thank you for the information. I had called CIC earlier in the day to confirm that if I applied inland for my PR and included my OWP application that I would be on implied status from my previous closed work permit. They confirmed, like you did, that I would be fine to work, but, of course, stuck in Canada throughout the duration of the processing. Thank you for the specific information on implied status.

FYI, this was the source from which I posted my reply (similar question to yours):

With an inland app, you get stage 1 approval/AIP after around 8 months from submitting. After AIP, you can only then apply for an OWP.

You can continue working under closed work permit during the application processing. If your closed work permit expires before you can get AIP and OWP, then you need to stop working.

Should note that with the move of stage 1 inland processing from CPC-V to M, several people have reported here that call centre agents have informed then you can NO LONGER send in OWP apps along with inland applications, and need to actually wait for stage 1 approval/AIP first.
See here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/new-sponsorship-rules-canada-makes-it-even-harder-for-us-t182180.0.html
and here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/inland-applications-2014-t179207.0.html;msg2850463#msg2850463

And then other people are reporting agents tell them it's still ok to send OWP app along with inland app to CPC-M.

As of yet, I haven't seen any official statement from CIC on this matter, so it's really hard to say.

Hi everyone,
My husband has finally got his permanent residency approval through mail. I sponsored him to come to Canada from new England USA..now my question is...it said on the paper that his medical is valid until march 26 2014. Does this mean that he need to move before or on the said date?

Thank you :)

It means he has to "land" by that date... He doesn't have to "settle" by that date.

Hello all,

I am new in in this forum and i need all your help please.

My fiance is leaving in Canada and he applied for PR last year including me as a common law partner.
We have submitted our medical and PPC after CIC requested for that. lately he received an email from VO mentioning that they have removed me from my his application because of the insufficient proof and its been a long time that we dont live together.

We are planning to get married and apply under family class what are the requirements? and how long is the processing time?

Thank you all in advance

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you have to start the process all over again.

Once he has his PR, he can then apply to sponsor you with either an Inland or Outland application. The processing time for an Inland application (which requires that you be in Canada for the entire time the application is being processed) is ~ 8-9 months for stage one + ~ 8 months for stage two. Outland applications are typically faster, but it depends on your country of origin.

Your medical and PCC will have expired so you will need to get those done again.

The requirements for a married couple are a bit less, since you no longer have to prove the previous cohabitation that you would as a common-law couple. Keep all of your previous evidence of your relationship (pictures, letters, etc.) and re-submit them with the new application.

Good luck!

(reposting this from the Vienna thread, kinda need advice asap)

Hey all,

So we just got the SA a week ago, and Vienna already asked for something earlier today - a new police certificate. Is it ok to print out their request that they sent via email and attach it to the new certificate? Is there something i need to put on the outside of the letter to Vienna as well (i.e. my client I.D., etc)? Is it normal for them to ask for something so soon? (not that it's a bad thing lol)

Thanks!

Hi All,

My husband is a Zambian. I recently received confirmation from CIC's Mississauga office that I have been approved as a sponsor and our application is en-route to Pretoria for the second part of the outbound application. Both my husband and I are using the same representative (lawyer) and although CIC was able to inform me of the approval over the phone, they were not able to forward me the letter of approval that they sent to my lawyer. My lawyer did not inform me of the letter of receipt or letter of approval and I have only received the letter of receipt to date, though e-case confirms that a decision has been made.

After this experience I am concerned that the Pretoria office may request documents from us and that I will not receive the message from my lawyer. Can someone please inform me about how an outbound VISA office will correspond with the applicant (my husband) when that applicant is using a representative? Will Pretoria contact my representative in Canada if they require additional documents? To notify them with the AOR, interviews? Approvals, etc? Are those requests also visible on e-cas? I would I still be able to track progress and be made aware of push requests from Pretoria via e-cas?

Much appreciated,
