They don't issue confirmations. You'll hear from them once the sponsor has been approved.

Well if they don't issue confirmation how can I find out if I actually am allowed to stay (as tourist from a visa waived country) and do not have to leave the country for re-entry. It's not exactly a given .

Copies are fine. We did ours on plain paper and had no issues.

What about the application pictures?
Do they have to be signed by someone?
Do they have to be done professionally or can I just take them myself and print them in Walmart?
Do I need glossy paper or is plain enough?

You should keep a copy of the fee receipt for your open work permit. That's what the CIC website says you should do.

I'm not sure what "application pictures" are. We submitted pictures of us - wedding, vacation, every day life in support of our relationship. I printed them on plain paper. A visa officer is going to tell if the pictures are you (they would match up with your identity documents hopefully) so you don't need to do anything special to prove they are of you.

The only pictures we sent were the pictures of the applicant (and those were done by a professional photographer) and those to support the relationship (and that was on plain paper from the laser printer). There is no specific requirement that photographs be printed on glossy paper or by professionals. It's content that matters. The only photographs with requirements are the immigration photos themselves.

I think you're overthinking the process. It is very easy to do. If it doesn't say something is required in the forms, you don't need to include it.

I don't know if you applied online or in writing, but the current processing time is posted as 94 days (paper) and 55 days (online) with June 17 and July 26 being the "processed through" dates for each category respectively.

If you applied on August 31, 2013 I wouldn't expect you to hear anything until late October or early November. Hopefully you kept a copy of the fee receipt, as that is what CIC suggests you use as "proof of implied status".

15 days shouldn't pose a problem. If the sponsor is a PR, much longer might be an issue...

Hi everyone. I am from the Philippines and just got here 3 weeks ago as a visitor. I am curious if I can both apply for a permanent resident and student visa at the same time. I am also a registered nurse in the Philippines, however I am not allowed to practice my profession without CARNA registration and without a proper nursing refresher program that's why I need the student visa. Will there be any issues applying for both visas? Your responses will be highly appreciated.

Your father in law can't co-sign the application. Your husband is the only person who can sponsor you and he can't have a co-signer. And yes - you can apply for PR and a student visa at the same time.

Unfortunately there's no standard or average. It could be days or it could be months.

Sure - you can leave Canada.

But as soon as you leave Canada, this will effectively cancel your visa extension (and implied status) and you will have to apply for a new visitor visa if you want to re-enter Canada.

The extension (and implied status) only applies as long as you remain in Canada.
