Hey Computergeek, help me again with a question please?
Where can I find updated information on processing times on the Open Data Project for the Sao Paulo Visa Office? You sent me the info below last year and I wanted to check if it has changed...
Thanks a bunch!
http://www.data.gc.ca

It's all there. And the immigration data is updated quarterly.

My fiance (he is 33 and Zambian) and I (Canadian citizen 29) are sending in application for PR. He is from Zambia and has been in Canada for past 5 years on student then work visa. He could not get a full time permanent job so applied in December for visitor visa and we found out 2 weeks ago they granted it only for 1 month so he has to leave Canada in mid may. We have been dating for over a year and were planning on getting married later this year but after we got the news about the visa we decided to get married right away so are having a wedding 3 days before he has to leave country. This whole process is sooo overwhelming. We can not get the actual marriage certificate until 4 weeks after the wedding, and we need that certificate for the application. So is there anyway we can apply incountry? or because we wont have all the documents is it better for him to go back as per his visa exit date and we just apply out of country? He has already sent off request for his police check. If we apply outbound should he try and get his medical done here in Canada before he goes back to Zambia?
Take a copy of your executed marriage licence application - after everyone has signed it. Submit a copy of that, along with a fee paid receipt (for the PR application fees) AND another application to extend his visitor status. Explain to them he'd like to stay together with you while the application is in process.

If you want to guarantee he can remain, file a "spouse-in-Canada" class application ("Inland"). That means he won't be able to leave Canada at least until he receives his open work permit (and it's not recommended until PR is granted). But if he includes an application for an "open work permit" with the PR application he will gain "implied status" and will not need to leave Canada.

If he wants to go home, then by all means get the medical done in Canada, it's likely to be less expensive and more convenient. Sadly, it is unlikely he will be able to obtain a TRV to return to Canada, so he should be prepared to wait out the application process in Zambia. But if you wish to go this route, you should apply for the "spouse-outside-Canada" application ("Outland"). He does have the option of applying via the Outland route even if he is in Canada, but if they require an interview, it will be in his home country generally - and then it is unlikely he can obtain a TRV to return to Canada.

Good luck! Don't panic, you're in good shape.

The doctor will supply it. Some countries used to take Appendix A with them, but CIC did away with it. (The link to it was even removed.)

Yes, make sure to take with you what the country guide tells you. The doctor's office will supply the form. It's on colored paper, so it's best to have the original from the doctor.

If the doctor argues that he needs Appendix A, he needs to tell the doctor CIC did away with that when they switched to e-medicals. If the doctor persists, he needs to ask the office to send him a copy of the form or a link to the form. If they try sending him a link, they will (hopefully) see it's broken - AKA no more!

This site should include a tip jar for all the senior members who regularly give very sage advice. I wish I had found this forum before I sent in my application.

Better to try to locate the Singapore thread and ask there. They will know more specifics.

Ottawa (a different VO, I know) is also being really slow about returning passports/issuing COPR. A few people have been waiting over 2 months.

Guys, not sure someone can help me here or had the same xperience I am having, Heres my story

I am in Canada from 4 years, I am BC PNP Nominee, I got AOR/ MR in April 2012, submitted my meds in May 2012, no updates after that

I got married in Nov 2012, my wife was outside Canada, I sent 3 emails to CIC, they didn't aknowledge anything

I got a request to submit my RPRF on in MArch 2013, which I gladly did no PPR. I sent them 4 emails back to back about change marital circumstances, they acknowledge in 2nd week of April 2013, I sent them controlled docs for my spouse, she is Canada on a spousal WP now.

my questions is:
1) Does anybody know how long will I have to wait before CIC responds to my mails / emails for processing of my wife app
2) Well in Email it was said I should send all docs as scanned, I sent hard copy with PCC etc., shoudl Isend the whole package again as scanned copy?
3) My spouse did her meds outside canada in feb 2013, you think she will have to go for her meds again?

any other info that can be helpful.

I've been wondering whether they are waiting until the time they've given to respond with additional documents has expired to actually expire before they look to see whether you've actually submitted the documents. So, that would mean that because they gave us 60 days to send "proof" that I "intend" to live in Canada, they won't look at our file until 60 days have passed, which would be this Friday at the earliest (this also happens to be our somethingth wedding anniversary - 16th maybe? - I've sort of lost track, even though I always do remember the date!).
