Thanks CanadianJeepGuy, I just sent them email asking about the barcode. Hopefully they will reply asap:( i have to send it before the deadline otherwise Im dead:'(
First, the deadline is artificial. Unless that letter says "if we do not hear from you we will close your file" it's not a final response required letter. They put those deadlines in there to give you time to respond. If you don't respond they send you a final letter. So you aren't "dead" if you fail to respond by the deadline. It's just going to push out the processing timeline.

Second, if the only thing you are missing is that "barcode" I wouldn't hold the response letter. The barcode on the letters now is to speed entry (scan instead of type) and minimize errors in processing paperwork. But they can still type in your file number. The most important thing is that you need to make sure your file number is somewhere in your submission package.

Good luck!

Generally, they don't ask for the RPRF unless they expect to finalize the application. But they often will wait 3-4 months after such a mail before they review your application again. This is one reason why we often advise paying the RPRF up front, so that it does not add several months to the process.

I'd expect you'll hear something by next month.

Tnx for reply. But my medical expired already. What happens with medical? Why they dont ask that?

So the "barcode" may not appear on all letters despite it actually being in the content of the letter?

In my experience, CIC tends to use boiler plate in their letters. For example, the bottom of the rejection letter for my first application said "Thank you for your interest in Canada..." and the only way I cannot envision that being an incredibly nasty thing to say is because it's all part of their standard form letter. Now perhaps I'm wrong and the visa officer was in fact cruel and thought it funny, but I'd prefer to think it's because the visa officers are severely overworked and rely upon stock information.

Ergo, why I wouldn't take the missing barcode as anything other than just an oversight.

Well there are two possibilities here:

(1) Your medicals have been extended or they will be extended. The Visa Office may request that they be extended within 15 months of the initial exam date.
(2) Your medicals have expired and they will eventually ask you to repeat them.

Good luck!

Hey Everyone!

Quick question. I received an email today saying that "You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The Application for Permanent
Residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly."

Subsequent to this, my wife received another e-mail saying the following:
"It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident
status as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.
We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The
Canada Immigration Centre in Scarborough will contact you concerning your permanent
resident status.
Please note: At the time of your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will
be required to present the original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration
Centre. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be
made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the
confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your
passport or identity documents.
You may now apply for an open work permit, which will allow you to work in the occupation and
location of your choice. "

Does this mean that our processing is complete? Both step 1 and step 2? Also, does this mean we will be called for an interview? After this letter, about how long does it take to be contacted by the Scarborough Office?

Thanks!!

Yes, that's exactly what it means. Local offices seem to schedule landing interviews 2-8 weeks out; hopefully someone will have recent experience with that office.

Congratulations!

I have a couple of quick questions about my application, and I'm sure I'll have many more to come :'(

I am Canadian living in Taiwan and my wife is Taiwanese. Our daughter was born in Taiwan but is Taiwanese and Canadian. We are moving to Canada on August 1st 2013.

1) Because we are moving in August, should I still apply in Hong-Kong and notify them after we move, or should I apply inland in Canada?

2) Do I post all documents, sponsor and sponsored person applications and additional letters, in the same envelope to Ontario and have them forward the correct documents to Hong-Kong for us? Or do I need to post the forms separately myself?

3) When asked about places of residence, do I just put today's date if I am still living in that place?

Thanks for your help.

PS Are there any agencies or people who can look at scanned copies of our application just to make sure everything has been done correctly before we send them off?

You send the application to Mississauga if applying outland.
