Hello, I am a new member here looking for some advice.

I am not married yet, but I want to get married this summer to my girlfriend when she comes to visit me in Canada. She is from Poland, we are both 20. We have done quite a lot of research on the topic. I currently live at home, but I am working two jobs (one of which has a possibility of transferring me to another location) and I am saving up for the summer, we want to elope basically, like meaning no one will be at our wedding, just a ceremony for us to be married. We don't have the money and we are sick and tired of being apart going nowhere. So I have a few questions:

1. Can we do an inland application right after getting married in Canada this summer? I understand it will take a month or two to get the needed documents together, but surely we can get them before the 6 month Visitors Visa expires?

Thanks everyone, and I hope to make contact with a Polish/Canadian couple who has been successful in this.
Have you considered applying Outland. This option is available even if you are living in Canada. Many applicants have found the Inland processing extremely slow and in fact you may have the whole process completed through Outland before you even qualify for AIP under Inland. Good luck with your application.

Couple of weeks back I received GCMS notes I requested regarding my wife's sponsorship application. According to the notes, my wife's original documents were sent to me on 12th of August on my previous home address in Canada which was already updated in July 2013. I could verify the change of address on the website when I checked application status. But apparently, when I changed the address, it got updated on the website but the update was never sent to back end. My address mentioned on GCMS notes was the old one. I contacted Ottawa Pilot office and they simply said that they are sorry for any inconvenience and that they never received any mail back from my old address. I contacted the old appartment building and they have no clue about that as well. They have refused to contact the tenant who moved in when I left the appartement. I contacted Canada post and they could not find the documents as well.

This is clearly a fault in the system, as my addres wasnt updated properly by CIC. Those documents included my wife's original degree, her original transcripts, our marriage certificate etc., and all were ORIGINALS. I don't know what to do, I am furious and frustrated as I feel so helpless now.

Is there any cimplaint centre where I can atleast file a complaint against CIC PP? Should I contact RCMP to help me in contacting the tenant who moved in after me and then left?

Please advise.

This is a standard problem with CIC - people think that the address has been updated and it has not. At this point those originals are lost. Most likely they have been destroyed but it is also possible they have been sold. I would suggest you watch for potential identity theft.

You will need to order replacement copies (they won't be original, but they will be "certified copies" of the original).

You realize you can contact the tenant yourself by sending them a letter.

I think the OP's issue was that the tenant had not only moved IN but had also moved OUT.

Like I said previously that I saw in ECAS on Jan 8 that 'Decision is made' on Sponsor side and CPC-M sent a letter on Jan 7 about that. But till today Jan 20 I did not get any letter. I called today CIC call centre and a Representative told me that they sent me an email on Jan 8 with Sponsorship approval, but I did not received any such email, even in my junk mail. But he looked and informed me that my Sponsorship was approved on Jan 7 and file was supposed to be transferred to Singapore Visa office within next 2/3 days from SA. When I requested them to resend the SA by email, he told me that 2nd time they can not send email, they can only send it by mail and it will reach me within 6 weeks. On the otherhand the Applicant side ' Medical Result received ' updated on Jan 11.

Should I be worried for SA letter and what I can do ?
If it's just for the approval of your ability to sponsor I personally wouldn't worry about it. You don't need it and you know you've been approved. I would order GMCS notes so you can check that the correct email address is on your file.
We had this problem with the document and ppr request letter which was serious and capable of causing long delay. The letter which was physically sent 2 months ago STILL has not arrived. The email address on the notes was correct and they seem to have had a typo issue or something which they never verified, or they used the old email address from the original application. Either way it was their error. They did re-email it to me but I feel it was not because of my letter but rather because I got my MP's constituency worker involved and they sent a request and that's how we found out what was going on and got it fixed. Your sponsorship approval will be in your notes. The email is just an FYI, but it's important that you check that your address is correct for future correspondence such as your file has been received by processing office if your application is outland, and most importantly your PPR and/or additional info request. So it's not really 'pressing' at this juncture but you might want the peace of mind.

I had a similar problem in that they had my email address entered incorrectly. They said they would fix it, but sent a copy of the SA by regular mail only. As Computergeek said you have no need to worry and you will get the approval by regular mail soon. Good luck with your application.

Eventually they will find out so it is best if you just tell everyone yourself. Just be strong and cancel the application. It sounds like you were pressured to marry and to sponsor your spouse so I understand that it may be scary to tell all the family members about your decision. I would make sure to have a good friend or sympathetic family member there for support when you break the news to people. Do not be afraid to reach out for help. Don't let anyone intimidate you. Look for support groups in your area to give you advice. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi there, i'm just new here in this forum and i really hope somebody can help me.
I am a Canadian Citizen living here in Alberta and i would like to sponsor my girlfriend for PR. We have been together for since December 18, 2014. She is 5 months pregnant and we are planning to get married March 1, 2014. She is here in Canada via working visa which will expire on June 2014 and student visa on July 2014. I just have some questions which i hope anyone can help me with please and thanks in advance.

1. Which is much better, inland application or outland application?

2. If ever our application takes a while, will my wife be sent home even if she is pregnant and due to give birth on June?

3. Is it true that we can no longer apply for OWP and PR together in one application?
(accdg to this article that we read online:Anyone being sponsored by a Canadian spouse or common-law partner, listen up. On January 15, 2014, the government changed the processing stream of IN CANADA CLASS spousal and common-law sponsorship applications. These are now to be sent to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga. The Case Processing Centre in Vegreville will no longer be processing these applications. AND, you can no longer include an application for an Open Work Permit or Visitor Extension WITH your sponsorship and PR applications. CPC Mississauga will let you know when or if you can apply for the OWP and you must submit visitor extensions separately to Vegreville. There is no longer any possibility of being able to continue working on implied status by including the OWP application with the PR application. This applies ONLY to those who have NOT submitted your application yet. Those who have already submitted your applications do not need to worry about this.) P.S. We tried to look for this update in CIC website but we cannot find any infos about this.

4. Do you have any idea about the processing times at the moment?

5. Do we still need a lot of documents and evidences to prove that our relationship is genuine? what kind of proof can you suggest?

These are all my questions for now. thank you for taking time to read them and hoping to hear from you soon.

Is she your girlfriend or your wife. Very different things. How long have you been *living together* as a couple, not just dating? You said since Dec 2014, which is obviously wrong.

Ignore the above.. I completely missed the point.

True, but he also said she was his girlfriend and they were planning to get married in March. Not the main point of the question though, and I know I can't answer it.

By the way inland or outland will depend on a couple of things. First of all, where is yourfiancee from?

In that case he has to prove common-law.. So, the date is important now.

Is it? She will still be in Canada then, for the marriage. Will she not be eligeable for implied status? I really am not pretending to know. Just trying to figure it out. Can they not put in an application then? Is that the best thing to do?
