Hey guys, wondering if someone can give me some info? I lived in Canada for two years so when applying for my spouce/partner visa to move to Canada I figured I would 100% need a police check done for Canada as well as Australia which is where I live.
So I got my fingerprint done, sent them to RCP 2 months ago and am yet to hear anything back.
Now the other day I was reading through the website and it says that you MiGHT need a police background check and that once you send your paperwork to the CIC they will contact RCP and run your name through their program.
So my question is, do I just send mine and my partners paperwork and wait to hear from CIC or do I need to wait for RCP to send me my fingerprint clearance so I can include that in my documents to send to CIC?
I've tried contacting CIC but they don't give me a clear answer and I hate sitting here and waiting.
Any info anyone can give me would be soooooo greatfully appreciated!!
Just include the police check for Australia. The Canadian one isn't needed. Sometimes (very rarely), CIC will ask someone to provide a Canadian police certificate later on in the process. But this affects very few applications - so no need for you to include the Canadian one with your application. My husband lived in Canada for three years before we submitted the application to sponsor him and we did not include a Canadian police certificate (and it was never requested).

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows cases where the sponsorship application has been approved and all the criterias have been fulfilled except for passport from a country which is notorious for not issuing passports. Is there a way out of it? I am really desperate to know the answer..

Do you have a passport at all from that country? It turns out that IRPA doesn't require an unexpired passport, though CIC would prefer to have a current one. In helping someone else out a careful reading of IRPR and the processing manuals suggests that a visa officer MAY accept an expired passport provided there are no issues of identity.

Otherwise, if you do not have a passport at all and you cannot obtain a travel document from your country then you must apply for an H&C exception. If you can get a travel document, that's sufficient. If you can't get a travel document, you don't have much to worry about because you can't be deported without one. :)

I received an email 3 weeks requesting a copy of my passport for finalization! I email it back them and sent an email asking if it was received and the response I got was

Thank you for your email.

Your application is currently in queue to be finalized.

Please note that we are unable to estimate the remaining processing time required for your application.

An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed.

Does any know how much longer this will take(roughly)

My husband just received an email that CIC already received our Application. We also get our UCI number.

Looking forward to hear some opnions from the exerts..

Thanks,

It can take a while for e-CAS to show anything. It only gets updated every few days. Keep looking.

hi leon! im currently in a live-in caregiver program status and will be able to apply for my PR by May2014. I have a longtime boyfriend back at home in the Philippines. Can I include him in my PR application as my common-law husband? Because there's no way that we can get married anytime soon since his 1st marriage is not yet annuled. Thank u for your time and hoping for your response. God bless!

Did you live together as a couple for at least 12 months before you came to Canada. If not, then he is not your common law. You could either wait until you have your PR and then try to sponsor him as a conjugal partner or if his annulment is completed before you get your PR, you could marry him and add him to your PR application.

If you did live together as a couple for 12 months before you came to Canada, then he is your common law but then you should have included him as a common law on your work permit. Not having done that could cause you some problems.
