Ah Thank you so much,I feel so much better now .So,now I have to wait for the CIC in Ottawa to contact me.I hope that doesn't take to long tho,because I have been waiting long enough .How long can it take to receive the PR in mail?one week or two?re they gonna send me a new Social card number too?

The contact time varies by office but seems to be between 2-8 weeks. Some offices give you a new SIN at the office, others do not, in which case you will need to go to Service Canada. Some offices are happy with your passport and COPR, others will insist on having your PR card. It's very consistent in its inconsistency.

Question 1: our visa office is MANILA do we need to inform Them as my husband is out of the country for work as a seafarer while our application is on process?? Were august 2012 applicant.. He left in the philippines after he gathered all the papers that need to be sent in CIC..

And will return back home if there's ppr already..

Is CEM will call my spouse?

Question 2: we didnt include my spouse NBI clearance coz we tought they just need the police cetrificates.. Should we send it now or just wait for them to ask for the additional requirements..

I have a question regarding spousal sponsorship processing time in Amman. The cic website is quoting 20 months. This is staggering though! I can't be away from my wife for 20 months. I applied in december 2012. I was approved in January and the application was sent to the visa office (Amman) in Jan. Now my question is, how long from what cases folks in here have seen does it take for an iraqi citizen to have her application processed in Amman? Second question, will appointing a lawyer help expedite the process in anyway?

Am a quebec resident so already working on filing the MICC forms. Not sure how long that takes either, but it seems the visa office is the only step that is worrying.

Ps. Is there a way to see the status of the application in the visa office? It seems as soon as it leaves the cic there is nothing I can do in terms of keeping tabs on the processing status.

Quebec is quick - 30 days or so (there's a CSQ spreadsheet in my signature if you'd like to take a look and add your application to it).

I’m a Canadian citizen have applied for my wife to come to Canada on Jan 9th as CIC emailed me they have received the file on Jan 9th, on Jan 28 they emailed me that file was transferred to the VISA office in Ankara, online status indicates “decision made”
What does this supposed to mean. Any idea how long will it take for the visa to be issued? I have sent all the required documents such as medical police record check and also tones of photos, fees and phone logs.
Do I need to call or email/fax the VISA office for a follow up?

You were approved as sponsor. Your wife's portion of the application must now be evaluated by the office in Ankara. Check on the CIC website for current processing time (they show the time to process 80% of applications). Generally it takes at least several months before anyone really looks at the application.

Appointing a lawyer won't do anything for your application. Don't waste your money! the CSQ is quite fast indeed.
AMman is 20 months, but that's the time it takes to process 80% of applications, so a lot are done before.
There is a thread for people going through Amman, and they also have a spreadsheet.

It might not take 20 months, but it takes a while. And there is nothing to do to expedite the process. You can check the process ( or lack off) on ecas here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index-can.asp using your file number etc from the sponsorship approval.
However, it won't really tell you much, and the spreadsheet on the forum usually give a better indication of possible requests.
if you are a Canadian citizen, you can stay with your wife during the process. If you are a PR, you have to be in Canada. You can visit your wife for short periods, but should not be out of Canada for too long.

Hey,

London usually doesn't send an email to let you know that the file has arrived.
If you're from a visa-exempt country, London won't request your passport. If you want to have an idea of timelines, you can see in my signature the spreadsheet for London.

What i came to understand that the sponsor should be in Canada during the process of his/her spouse, Can he move to other province in Canada during pend ency of application and suppose he/she moved to other province during the process of application what will be the impact on application.
Those who have similar experience or the Seniors please share it.
