Hi guys!

I've just changed my mailing address with the abu dhabi embassy.... the embassy sent me a change of address form
which I requested them VIA e-mail,, its for my husband's mailing address in Dubai...

I'm quiet worried now as I've made the change and sent them the form.. I'm worried because at the very bottom it says that
ALL correspondence will now go to the new mailing address... I just wanted them to change it on file and I wanted
to continue receiving all correspondence from them to my E-mail address.... as it would be very hard for my husband to receive the mail at that address. I sent them several emails asking them to please confirm that my email would still be used and to just update their file with the current mailing address,,,, but nothing as of yet

If anyone can give their comments or opinions I would really appreciate it,

Thanks!

Ahhhh thanks computergeek... U sure such an angel... So, bottomline i just leave the form blank and not include along with my application?
Assuming you have no children, then yes, just leave it blank or don't fill in any information (the electronic form has an option to add that as I recall.)

computergeek,
Happy New year First of all. I applied on 13th June, 2011 and I got AIP on 19th April ,2012 including work permit of course; letter from CIC requesting submiting Medical, police certificate and copy of my passport, I sent all document on 09th June, 2012. On 3rd November I got a letter saying that a copy of my passport I sent is missing a bio data page and advising me to submit a Valid copy that has a bio data page. I sent a new copy on 09 November, 2012. I ordered my FOSS notes on 3rd December, 2012 and I got it on 2nd January, 2013. When I look at it, the forward date was 30 December, 2012 unfortunately it was sunday (weekday). I didn't hear anything till now. What should I expect about my 2nd stage approval? What should be the reason of the delay?
It sounds like you'd be on a list of files that need to be reviewed, so I suspect you'll likely hear something this month.

Hello peoples,
This thread has really been great to read .. and very informational.
But I have a bit of a problem..

I am trying to sponsor my husband (who is outside of Canada). I am a Canadian citizen by birth, and I am now a full-time university student. I am currently unemployed but I do have my reasons and evidences as to how I am supporting myself now and him in the 3 years after he comes. But do you think it will delay or affect my application at all, my being unemployed?

Thanks!

No. I've seen stay-at-home partners with no outside income successfully sponsor. They will consider the abilities of both people and your situation.

Hi friendssss,

I need urgent help.
I just get recently married. I live in Manitoba and my husband lives in ontario. We were in relationship from last 1.5 yrs. I am a PR and would like to now sponsor him. He is doing study but would come in april here.
We need police certificate from canada and india. But no one is helping from his family to issue police check. I am confused what should i do.
Can i apply without police check of india. I really want him here.
I am confused. I don't want to loose this case. But his parents are non cooperating and against us.
Please help me regarding that.

Thank u

Why urgent? It doesn't sound like there's an emergency here - it seems like you're in a very good situation in fact, with your spouse IN Canada.

First, I'd suggest that you apply via the inland process. With him in Canada, you have the option, but with the inland application he can remain in Canada while they decide on the application. Plus, after you are approved as sponsor (6 months generally) he will receive an open work permit.

Congratulations on your recent nuptials! Use the time between now and April to collect your documents and prepare your application - it definitely takes time.

Has he followed the directions on the CIC website for obtaining his PCC? Lots of people obtain them without help from family, but someone in one of the Indian outland threads might be able to help with this as well.

You can apply, but at some point they will require it of him. I would not apply via Outland without a complete application. That will make the process take more time.

I think you need to find out how to obtain his PCC without having his parents assist and move forward from there.

Good luck!

Just wanted quick advice as to what I should look out for, and what might delay or cause any problems in my applications.
Any suggestions??

You need to submit a complete application. When you look through the application, make sure that you view it from the perspective of a CIC officer - jaded, convinced that one out of six applications is fraudulent. With that mindset, do you find the application persuasive? If not, you have work to do. If so, have someone else review it and see what they think.

You have to convince the officer of two things: (1) that you won't require social assistance. A job does help, but is not a requirement here. (2) That you have a genuine relationship.

Everything else is just a matter of statutory compliance - medicals, police clearance, complete history, no criminal issues, no security problems.

Ideally, you want the officer to pick up your file, go through it and conclude "genuine relationship, no other issues, everything is done" and say "ready for visa". In the notes for my application the first officer that picked it up did reach that determination. Because I had a prior refusal, my file was referred to a senior officer. Because I was challenging that refusal (and likely to win) that senior officer looked at it just a few days later and concluded the same thing - and this time said that the basis of the refusal didn't matter for this application. Thus I was approved and the file shipped off to LA.

The key seems to be "make sure it's complete and persuasive". Don't leave anything out, don't send things in "after the fact".

I don't know if anyone would find this link helpful but it is the operating manual for family class that CIC uses. I found it helpful to have a better understanding of their internal process.

Salam, I read this, this morning and was over whelmed by all the info and I wish I had this when we first applied it would have helped alot. You should put it at the top to help others as I see this being a lot of important info to help with Spousal Sponsorship.
Nice Job!!!

You should list them both, and indicate that you are separated from your wife and in the process of obtaining a divorce, so that she will not accompany you, and unless the VO requires it, she will not be examined. You should then also include the information about your child, including the medicals.

If the VO requires your wife be examined, you can either refuse and sign off a disclaimer that you won't ever sponsor her in the future, or you can have her examined, even though you'll never sponsor her in the future. Since you have been separated 3 years, I suspect the VO will decline to examine your wife.
