Spousal sponsorship

I am a PR and will be sponsoring my Taiwanese wife. She just flew here several days ago. We will be applying inland later this month.

I was working in Asia for a few years and now back in Canada. As a PR, I have exceeded the requirement of a minimum of 2 years of the previous 5 years. I need another 8 months to be in check, so to speak. Fortunately when I returned the customs officer didn't ask anything, and I don't plan on leaving the country for a while.

Based on me not fulfilling Canadian PR requirements, do you think they would reject my sponsorship application because of that?
Just to note my PR card is still valid and by the time renewal comes, I should have fulfilled my residency obligations.

Thanks.

Hello everyone and many thanks to all of members of this site for a lot of useful info.
I have my own question and need to clarify an issue with filling out the form 5481. So here is my situation, I am sponsoring my spouse who has a child and I had a divorce in past. From the previous marriage I had 2 children. My former spouse has a full custody on the children and I pay aliments for them. I believe I don't have to add my ex in 6a as she is not my spouse anymore, but what about my children? Do I add them in 6b of the form and are they considered as the dependent family members?
Please help me clarify this. Thanks again!

Yes, in general they won't re-evaluate your file until they get new medical results.

Well, there isn't a precise timetable for these things, but I know in my case that my initial medical was done on February 6 and the IMS doctor signed off on them exactly one month later - March 6, 2012. This is consistent with what I've been told and read - that it generally takes the Immigration Medical Service (at least in Ottawa) about 3-4 weeks to evaluate your medical results and for that information to be added to your case file.

The good news is that there's pretty much nothing that is likely to occur in your medical that can lead to a negative decision. To be rejected on medical grounds in family class you must be a danger to public health or safety. The classic example of this is TB (which is why they test for it) because that is known to be highly contagious. If you have a condition for which treatment is necessary, such as cancer, you'd still be admissible even though you are "likely to cause excessive demand".

Do we attach the receipt of online payment of PR fees? The receipt says NO NEED, but anyone send it?? atleast for reference?? If so, whose file number did you give in the receipt?? Sponsor's or applicant's. We are paying the CAD 490 after the sponsor got approved and so the applicant has a file number too now.
The fee was paid by sponsor and the address given while paying fees is that of sponsor's... Pl. advice

Thanks

They only use the UCI number if they are going to refund it so I hope it doesn't matter for you.

I'd send a copy to the VO anyway.

Sending it via FAX is good. Have your husband also take a copy to the interview and offer it to the VO.

Not sure I understand - 90 days for what?

I did my last medicals on 6 February and submitted the application on 5 March. The IMS posted my medical results to my file on 6 March.

I applied outland.

When I applied to sponsor my husband, I was unemployed.
I've now been approved to sponsor him and the file is being sent to the visa office abroad. Should I send an email to update them with my work? Right now it's a very minimum job (hours and pay) so I don't think it will really matter, but is it a good idea to update them?

If you've been approved to sponsor, no need to update them on it, since you've already passed. Sending information to them won't harm your case, but it's probably little more than just a basic distraction in this case.
