Yes, it is. There isn't an exact number, however most people recommend keeping the vacations to 3 weeks or less. More than that is unusual for Canadians, and might look as if the sponsor is not residing in Canada. There are some cases on here where the sponsor left Canada for several months (as a PR), and were refused.

Two vacations should be fine, as long as they aren't too long.
MilesAway,

Thanks for the quick reply!!

Should the PR Sponsor inform (by email/mail) CIC that he/she is leaving Canada for certain number of days and will be back in the XX day????

Where can we find the exact maximum number of days allowed on vacations and how many such vacations are allowed in a year ??

Plz let me know if someone knows about this.

Thanks again..... :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

no! don't do that. it certainly is not necessary, and the last thing you want is someone at CIC misunderstanding what you mean and having it negatively affect your application. you don't have to notify CIC of everything you do.

i doubt there is anything officially written about this. just use common sense and best judgement. obviously going away for 1-2 months at a time will seem a bit odd. short vacations that seem legitimate amounts of time off for an average canadian worker are not going to be much of a concern. i also doubt there is a "total" amount of days or CIC is going to take the time (or even care to) count of all the days you were away within a certain amount of time if they were split into smaller vacations.

May be I can chime in. We had applied for my wife`s PR on Oct 28th and still waiting for SA. I am planning to visit my spouse from Dec 26th to Jan 19th so 23 days. I had called CIC and spoke to three different agents and their answer was:

There is no specific time limit on how long you can and cannot stay outside, there is specifically nothing to stop the sponsor to go on short vacations. A short visit wouldn't cause a delay or a red flag but of course if the sponsor is away for 5-6 months that would be considered being a non-resident. Therefore the only way there would be a problem is if the sponsor is away for a long time just leaving his/her life in Canada.

exactly! THIS is exactly the point. they don't want PRs moving out of Canada while sponsoring someone else to come to Canada. they want the PR to MAINTAIN proper residence in the country while the application is being processed. this is not suggesting a PR needs to ground themselves and never take average length vacations outside of canada until the process is over.

Mississauga now handles inland applications. Most applications from Vegreville were transfered there.

So will there be more delay in processing out land applications???

This might be the reason for increasing SA time from 45 days to 58 days ??? :(

When you vote, remember that when conservatives promise to make government work more efficiently, what they mean is that they will cut funding for services, not that they will provide a better level of service.

this change happened months ago, as in the spring or summer. the fact SA changes from 45-58 days is normal and is dependant on the amount of applications received. quite frankly, SA hasn't been too far below a 2 month wait all year long (at least since I applied in March), so no, it really doesn't have much to do with inland processing changing to mississauga.

hi there,
i would like to ask you a quick question i applied for my wife in Dec 2013 and my wife receive a email for medical in december 2014 and my online status is changed file receive into processing. but after my wife medical i add-on 4 months old my baby girl. do you know how long LVO takes to process my baby file and how long will take the whole process now ?
thanks
Are you a PR or a citizen? If you are a PR, then figure 3-6 months extra. But you have no option because you must declare the child (otherwise, you can never sponsor the child). If you are a citizen, then the child is most likely a citizen by descent and while you can advise the visa office, it won' t impact processing time.

Hello,

My spousal sponsorship application is at CPC-M for SA.

Before starting spousal sponsorship process, I had tried to get Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) and unfortunately it got rejected. I was assigned a UCI during my TRV process.

My question:Will the same old UCI (mentioned in the spousal application form) be continued for my Spousal processing or I will be assigned different UCI ???

Thanks.

You will have the same UCI number. It is assigned only once, that's why it's called "unique"
