Hello I'm Jason and I would like to inquiry experienced members here for spousal sponsorship outside Canada.

I am currently Permanent Resident of Canada and living in Canada. My spouse is outside Canada and we decided to reside outside Canada for 1-2 years. My question is, how to process the immigration for her to come to Canada after 2 years?

Two options I can think of are:
  1. Apply PR directly. However as far as I know, I need to be in Canada in order to file a spouse PR application for my spouse, which means I will need to come back to Canada earlier.
  2. Apply spouse open work permit for her. I don't know whether and how this option can work when both of us are outside Canada?
I am very grateful for your suggestions and opinions. Thank you in advance.

1. Yes you can and you must live in Canada the entire time.

2. Spousal open work permit only works if you and your spouse will both be IN Canada and process inland.

Thanks! That means there's no option to apply any visa if we're both outside Canada right?

No option to apply for sponsorship. She could apply for any form of temporary residency while you are both outside of Canada.
