Hi all,

My Canadian Wife and I are currently in the process of completing our Spousal Sponsorship application in the UK. We have compiled evidence and have the application ready to be sent but have so far been hesitant because I, as the person being sponsored, am currently unemployed.

Can anybody give us advice or perhaps speak from experience about if the unemployed status of the spouse being sponsored caused any issues with the application or caused it to be rejected? I should state that I am actively seeking employment within the UK and can provide evidence of this. I am not currently on any employment benefit and do not intend to be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we're very keen to send off the application but don't want to encounter any issues with the process.

Thanks!

Liam

Your employment status is completely irrelevant to a spousal sponsorship app.

You only need to show that you and your spouse can support yourselves without government help.

That's great, thank you! We've been a little hesitant to sent the application because of my employment status so it's good to read we can still do it.

You will also have to prove that you will be relocating to Canada when you get PR. CIC has become pretty demanding when it comes to proof you will be relocating because many never did.
