Dear zardoz ,
Please dont apologize, Thank you for reading my question in the first place and taking time out to answer.
Can your please tell me what `RO` means. Im a noob here.
I made an error and I'm quite happy to admit it.

RO is shorthand for the rather tedious "Residency Obligations".. You will find that in all things related to immigration, that acronyms are rather heavily relied on. Somewhere on here, there is a glossary of terms that someone has put together.

Hi Guys

Is it mandatory to apply within an year of marriage for spouse or even we can apply after 1 year of marriage?

The other question is what if the Husband (PR Holder) is not in Canada, Can he still apply for his wife and kid? Does he has to show any LICO?

Thanks

There is no mandatory time frame that must be met to sponsor a spouse. If the husband is a PR holder, he MUST come back to Canada to apply for sponsorship of his wife and child and he must remain here for the duration of the application process. As was stated earlier, a few weeks vacation to visit them here and there is acceptable but he can NOT remain and live with them outside of Canada. There is no income guidelines to sponsor a spouse, however if he does not have a job he needs to show a clear and valid plan on how he intends to support his wife and child once they receive their PR so they will not end up on social assistance.

You can apply at any time and there is no LICO. A PR must reside in Canada to be able to sponsor. Only Canadian citizens get an exemption.

I cannot afford a big wedding and also as I really don't want to rub it in her parents face with a big Horray!!! we married.
So I'm left with only a certificate for the Court ( judicial system ) as proof :(
What else can I do ?
You need to outline all of the things that you did that led you to this step. Attach your written account of how it came to be like this. Kind of like telling your lifes story (only in regards to your wife how you met what you have done to try to win her parents approval and such). Include any photographs, communications you have when not together, like phone bills, skype, facebook, however you communicate. If you are honest and include good reasons as to WHY you had to go this route and what it means to both of you it should be enough to show a marriage of honesty. Your wife should also write her own account of what it has been like, what she has done and so on and so forth.

Good luck!

Does anyone have any information if Applying for a visit visa during the sponsorship delay or hamper the process in anyway?

I don't mean to worry you, but because of your visa office you may face a challange with not having a traditional wedding. I know it is CIC nonesene, because not everyone has to marry a certian way for it to be real. Just please prepare as much as you can, photos, communication, letters, write a statement as to why you cannot have a wedding, and why her parents/family are not supportive of this marriage.

Need some help regarding Visitor Visa

Dear All,

I am holding visitor VISA (my spouse who need to travel under some assignment for about an year), and would like to apply for immigration under FSW as I am working professional. Could any one suggest in the following:

1. Is the right time to apply for immigration - If so could you please suggest me how do I start with.

2. I read the language requirements of immigration - that IELTS-GT is must... Having Bachelor and Master degrees in English medium - still do I need to take IELTS?

3. I guess, I may not apply for jobs under Vistor visa, at least this VISA allow me to study in Canada? If so, does universities treat my application as local so that my tuition fee will be as equal to local (not international student fees)?

I am just trying to understand the process and it would be great if some one can help me.

Thank you.

-RJ

1. The best time for FSW would be at the start of the application period. A significant number of jobs have now already reached the yearly cap. Which NOC are you considiering?

2. You must pass IELTS.

3. As a visitor, you can only study if the course is for less than 6 months. As a visitor, any course would be billed at "International student" rates, not "local".

This is true. They will certainly scrutinize not having a traditional wedding more closely for applicants in New Delhi since CIC feels large wedding ceremonies is the standard in India vs say CPP-Ottawa for a US applicant. I think if the OP explains to CIC what he did for us (he tried to get his in-laws approval but they are against the marriage so they had a small ceremony) that would be fine
