I would like to know whats the procedure to go forward with for my wife's PR we have applied for family sponsorship in New delhi and we are planning for a baby so will her paper work will be stopped till the baby is born or will I have to apply for the baby separately if its born in india

If you're Canadian, then the baby will be Canadian - easier solution.

If you're a PR, then the baby needs to be added to the application.

If your wife receives the PR before the baby is born, the easiest would be to land in Canada, and have the baby in Canada, so the baby will be Canadian.

If the baby is born in India before the PR is given, then get a passport for the baby, and add his/her information to your file (and re-do the family forms etc.) so that the PR can be issued for your wife and the baby at the same time (her as principal applicant, the baby as dependent).

If your wife is pregnant, you can inform the VO about her pregnancy, but you won't have to do anything until the baby is born. If the baby is born after your wife has been issued the PR BUT before she lands, you will have to send the PR back, and inform the VO about change in family composition so the baby can be included in the application.

Be careful Sweden on your line of "if you're Canadian, the baby is Canadian". That is not entirely true. If OP is Canadian by decent of Canadian parents also born outside Canada, then OP will not be able to pass canadian citizenship to baby if born in India.

If OP is a canadian by birth or a naturalized Canadian, only then can OP pass on Canadian citizenship.

Wouldn't it be faster to get the newborn a passport and travel to Canada with the mom once she gets her PR? Upon arrival, you can file the necessary paper work showing the baby is yours.

What you suggest is only possible if the OP is a Canadian Citizen.

If he is a PR the baby needs to be sponsored, therefore added to his wife's application. If the OP is a PR and does not add the baby he will forever be barred from ever sponsoring the child (baby) into Canada and the baby will never be able to become a PR /Canadian Citizen.
