I'm all about honesty is the best policy but you also don't want to be 'too' honest with CIC that they interpret in a way that it's not meant to be. It could get you in an uninvited trouble (I.e. PFL, rejection, additional documents etc)Is it fine to let them know about my plans to study because I have, but vague. I will have to keep check on how things would be going and will plan accordinly. Would it make any negative impact?
@Landing_PR What do you suggest is the best way to answer this? I want to be honest but I am not sure what could be taken wrong and I regret it later.
I would answer it like this, IF (A BIG IF!! If they don't bring it up, don't voluntarily say it at the interview!) they bring up your refusal to the student visa. Feel free to make it your own:
I had applied for a student visa as I was interested in studying in Canada and completing XXX course. However, my case was refused based on XXX circumstance. Fate would have it after XXX years/months, that I was engaged to be married to a wonderful person who also belonged to Canada. This was a love and/or arranged marriage. My intention to marry was not only to move to Canada. I can live anywhere in the world, as long as I have my partner with me. However, my partner/spouse loves Canada so much that they don't want to move else where. For now, if my application is approved and granted a visa, I will look for ways to continue to support my partner, financially and emotionally. Whether it means going to school to continue education for a better financial gain or to find a job to hit the ground running, my partner and I will decide mutually, once we are together in the same country.
Always throw a positive spin to any possible negative questions. Let them know your intentions are clear and honest.
Anyway, hope this helps!
